A Surprise

This morning my deck still wasn't pressure washed as maintainance had informed us it would be so I called the office again and asked if they would be here today. Quiet a surprise when they told me all the washing was finished and the crew had left the premises. I told him that our deck hadn't been washed and he said someone would be here to check it out. Just a few seconds after I hung up he called again and said the manager told him to inform me that the decks were not supposed to be washed, they were only washing the halls and stairs. I asked him why we had been told to remove all plants and porch furniture and he said just in case the chemicals splashed on the deck. So I have waited all week with porch furniture stacked in living room for nothing. Now I've cleaned out the deck closet and have some of the porch furniture back in place. I'm taking a bunch of stuff from the closet to the thrift store before I finish the project. Hope y'all are having more fun than I am today.

I felt like having a tantrum but It wouldn't have helped. The workers were long gone.

That does not seem right that they did not wash the decks. That would not have taken that much longer. It seems like they did a half job.

As I said to rebel Ann, I think they missed our deck by mistake but I let it go because I wanted to get my deck back in order.

People do not know how to communicate, they had to be more precise on this.

@RubyHawk Better to ask every time, so you do not move things and wait and they don't come.

It's too bad you couldn't have figured out a way to sweet-talk the maintenance guy into pressure washing your deck while you had everything moved off of it! That would have been a very nice favor for them to do if you could have talked them into it!

@RubyHawk Oh, that makes sense then. If it was the maintenance guys doing the work directly themselves, then you could probably get better customer service out of them. But if they are hiring out contract workers, then forget it. They won't lift a finger to go out of their way to help anybody.

@moffittjc that's the truth. They get out as fast as possible. I'm already over it. I have everything in place and it's good I did. We had visitors yesterday and they would have had to walk in a little trail to get in the living room.

That wouldn't work. They hire the work out every spring. That's why I think the workers accidentally missed our deck.

@popciclecold Yes, just clear out the living room and forget it. I did get the deck closet cleaned while I was about it.

Sounds frustrating. I think anyone would have thought they meant they would washing the decks when they had you put the furniture and such out of the way.

Something sounds really off about that. If they were only going to wash the stairs and halls then how would that have affected the plants on your porch?

It wouldn't that I could see. The halls aren't connected to the decks. I think the workers accidentally missed our deck.

There's no way chemicals could get to our deck from the hall or stairs. That's why I think the workers accidentally missed our deck and the office didn't want to tell me.
