Windmill

Hello Everybody! I was on vacation for three days and I tried to be present here while resting from work (still working actually) but limited data connection. I am still tired until now as we were awake until the wee hours of the morning I have attended a funeral of the sister of my brother’s partner. My brother is gay and his partner are really close to me and it had been a struggle for the two of them. As a friend and an “in-law,” I decided to join them to pay my respects to the sister as their family had become close to me and I appreciate the hospitality they had shown my brother and me. Deeply grateful for the love they gave us. Today, the sister was finally laid to rest. And I felt that pain in my heart as I remembered those close relatives who have departed especially my paternal grandmother and my mommy’s sister. I have realized that our life is like the windmill. I remember the large windmill on our way to the funeral. And that windmill made me think of the way we live our lives. We stand tall, rolling those turbines that signifies our life, producing wind to provide electricity or “happiness” to others until that wind fades. Just like the windmill, we will somedah exhaust ourselves and will no longer be able to give what is expected of us. We willl not forever function the way we want to be and therefore, we have to go and say goodbye. Let us be like the windmill and be a provider of wind to others while we still have the time. They can be your parents, siblings, children, partner, relatives, friends, co-workers or a stranger. Just like the sister, she sure have shared that wind to those people she loved, just like she touched my brother’s and mine. She will be greatly missed but never forgotten. How about you? What is your take on death? Have you been a windmill to others? All your thoughts are appreciated. Thank you. Image: Windmills in Pililia, Rizal. Photo is mine.

Well, we should be doing a lot of good and live our lives too before we hit the dust. We all come to an end.

I was the windmill for my kitten and my dog; my dog passed away three years ago and I gave my cat under adoption because I couldn´t have it with me. My dog is still in my memory and my cat is doing fine

@mlgen1037 I was staying in a country house when my cat got wounded by something. I packed and return to the city. My cat was treated at an animal hospital and as a consequence of that wound, my cat lost its leg. A girl, whom a met at a doctors office, told me how to find this hospital and then she took my cat under adoption. She told me that I could continue with my own life and she would take care of my cat. She really was somewhere at the right moment when all this happened

I am sorry for your loss. Am I the wind or breeze to lift others up, I do not know. Sometimes, probably, other times I may blow against them pushing them down.

Hi Heather. Thank you. I appreciate it. I think you are, Heather, but since we are human, there are times that we do not want to help others as we need to help ourselves first. I understand that as we are only human.

This is such a nice remembrance of those you mention and a good reminder to the rest of us. I hope that I have been a windmill to some. I am sure that my life is well-past half over and I agree with @LadyDuck. I want to die healthy.

Very wise! First of, I am sorry for the incident with your brother's partner . I think most of us are like that windmill knowingly or unknowingly and the day we stop functioning they say "Rest in peace" Do you think stopping the function of is like resting in peace! For me it's a complicated matter and I would rather go with the wind... Cheers!

@mlgen1037 That's it, I would do my best to my ability but not beyond a point. As I said, I would go with the wind and not against it unless must!

Hi Suny. Thank you and I appreciate it. I think when a windmill stops functioning it is because a part of it is broken or it has exhausted its energy, just like us when a part of us is no longer able to function properly that we need to go. And like the wind, we are also passing thru.
