The Tent is Down

No mishaps this morning doing laundry, praise God. The weather has also turned warm and the rain is out of the picture for the most part, so my knees, which were affected yesterday by the weather system coming through here, are also feeling much better today, though I'm keeping my cane handy. With my arthritis in the extreme, according to my last x-ray after I initially fell at the hospital, my knees are vulnerable to whatever the weather wants to throw at them. I'll be very happy when I can get to goal weight and make the determination to either get the knee replacement or not. That is why I'm pursuing hard the Whole30 food program. I need to lose this weight, for my knees sake's. I didn't spend much time on the computer yesterday. So, you saw me very little, if you saw me at all. I spent most of yesterday binge watching Smallville. I'm also working on a puzzle, which is coming along slowly. It's only 500 pieces, but very challenging, as you can see in the photo. That's two weeks worth of working on it, I think. So, for now, I'm here interacting with you, and hopefully will get the notifications done today. Also on my agenda for today is working on a book. I have a few to choose from that need work done on them, so not certain which one I'll be working on. I did look for covers for a couple books yesterday, but still need to decide on which ones will be my final choice for Where Eagle's Soar, Wilderness Challenge, and Destination Love. I have a lot of books, and they all need covers. So, that's what I've been up to. I hope your weekend is going well. Thanks for reading.

They give some injection at the knee you know. Did you try that one Valerie? If that works, you would be in less pain, and take that walk more frequently and lose weight faster, and be ready for knee replacement also soon enough. Let me call @DaddyEvil. He is good in searching for things. Not me. :) But I do know that before trying to replace the knee, they try to inject something nowadays. If that solves the problem, then knee replacement can be deferred.

I will never allow another needle to come near my knees. Twice was more than enough for me to make that permanent decision. I've never had anything more painful in my life, not even childbirth. So, no needles.

I'll keep this conversation open on my laptop, vanny. It is time for me to get some sleep or I will drag at work today. I'll be back on here as soon as I get home tonight and look for that for you.

@just4him , I love doing puzzles too, but it is difficult now as my neck is so stiff and have lots of arthritis in my fingers.

@marlina I'm managing to find only a couple pieces a day. I'm sure it is hard if your neck is stiff and your arthritis is bad.

Oh, I love puzzles. I don't have a place to put them now since we moved to the smaller house. I really want one of those roll-up mats that you can put puzzles together on but when I have the extra money I never remember to get one. Our weekend is going as usual.

@just4him I have seen them at Walmart. Usually over in the toy section with the puzzles. You can use them on a table but the neat thing is that you put your puzzle together on the mat and when you want to put it away just roll the mat up and the puzzle goes along with it for safe storage.

I've never heard of a roll-up mat. Where do you get them? Then again, if it's for the floor, I can't get down on the floor.

Oh this answers my question (on one of my posts) as to whether or not the tent was down. You're doing great with your puzzle! My family likes puzzles, but they haven't done one in a bit.

@tammys85 I have. I only have the flowers to go on the puzzle. The well is 99% finished. The flowers are the most challenging.

That puzzle is really pretty. How far are you from your goal? Must be getting closer now? Sorry it's been a tough day for your knees though.

Thankfully, my knees are fine! Hope your efforts to lose what you want to work for you. We eat only fruits, vegetables and seeds, nuts. Works for us.

@DianneN By this time next year I hope to be completely at goal weight. Then we'll see how long it takes me to do some simple exercises. I had to basically start over with the elliptical this morning with my knee as bad as it's been for the past month. Five minutes was a good place to start, and had a hard time doing that. So by the time I get to half an hour on that, I should be able to keep up with you on any walking venture you propose.

It would be nice, but it's at least a year away at the rate I'm losing weight. I'm downsizing faster, which is good, but I still have a hundred pounds to go. Now that's relaxing. I intend to keep up with you too.

I wasn't on here Friday either. I mostly look at couches on the computer. My weekend wasn't good. I was supposed to have went to Badcock to look their couches in person, but my mother (she is buying the couch) had to work Saturday. I hope to go today or this weekend.

I'm glad you're taking care not to fall again. My right knee didn't like all the steps and stairs I was making it go up and down when we went to Cradle Mountain but it seems okay again now.

Weight is soo important to get off damaged knees. A friend of mine might have to face surgery/amputation if she doesn't get rid of extra weight from her knee. :( great job on the puzzle!

That seems a bit harsh if she doesn't get the weight off her knee. I hope she can lose the weight. Thank you.

@Daelii That's great you're doing so well. However, I understand your concern for your friend. I have a friend who also has a friend like your friend, dangerously overweight and won't do anything about it. Except for the past 26 years of my life, I was always slim, no more than 10-15 pounds over weight, When I went to college and sat in class all day and ate in the cafeteria, I gained weight, and have been fighting to take it off since. It's been an uphill climb until I found the Whole30 program, and watching the weight come off, and seeing my size swimsuit go from a size 20 to a 12 in less than a year, is amazing to me. When I decided to do the picture thing, I had no idea how beneficial those pictures would be. For the past four months I've been on a plateau, going up or staying the same. This month I finally lost 'a' pound. Not a lot, but the pictures of those four months and this month, were the biggest help and incentive I have to get this weight off and keep going at it. I still have a hundred pounds to go, and I will get it off. I feel better every month, in every way, not just physically, but emotionally and I have more confidence this weight will come completely off and I'll be the trim person I was in 1992 before I started college. I'm also not hearing my kids pester me any longer about losing weight. My daughter said something every time I went to her house, and my younger son did too. They aren't saying anything anymore, except - looks like you're losing more weight. Those are the best words I could hear from my children. I hope your friend gets the motivation to lose the weight and not her leg.

@just4him drs have been telling her for years to get the weight off. I mean years! As its been described the weight is crushing her knees/ bones. Now the problem is only further escalating. I've tried to motivate her. Bought stuff to make working out easier. Tried offering to pay admission for her to swim. Its her choice to keep eating poorly and not work out. I know I'm not slim and still have weight to lose. I can and do work out and am trying to get back to pre pregnancy form! I am happy with the last ~ 6 months progress since drying out / baby not nursing or pumping

I find when it comes to writing, for whatever reason, I always tend to be most productive in the winter. Probably less distractions.

My grandson had a tent up in the basement the last few weeks. Since I fell at the hospital and twisted my knee, I also fell in the basement tripping over the tent because there wasn't a lot of room to walk with it up, and last week I really hurt my knee bad. When I arrived today, the tent was down. I had posted about it.
