a morning at the park

My toddler's new preschool (he starts in the fall) has been having weekly meetups at the local parks in town this summer as a way for the new families to meet each other. We went to one this morning with the two littlest boys, and it was exactly what the 7 year old needed. I hadn't been to this park before, but I think we'll go back again. They had several play structures and a few climbing rocks, plus this spinny thing that's shown in the picture above. What exactly is this called? It reminded me of a playground version of the Tilt-a-Whirl that I've seen at boardwalks and carnivals. Unfortunately the play area doesn't have a lot of shade and it was nearly 90°F already at 10:30am today, so we only stayed for an hour. They rotate through different parks each week, and I know next week's park is closer to our house, but it doesn't have free parking at that one. Maybe we'll get lucky and find decent street parking so we don't have to pay the $6 fee.

That's nifty. Ugh that was the only plus to it raining all day that it cooled it off.

Yeah, I'm missing the rains. None for us until probably November.

I'd call it a spinny thing.

"Spinny thing" is what we were calling it, but I'm sure it has a regular name of some sort.

That was so thoughtful of them, parents get to know each other and kids get to socialise and it will make it easier for them when preeschool starts.

The park sounds nice, but they should try to place something to provide more shade for the kids.

I don't know what that thing is called either, but it looks like fun. Maybe in the evening after the sun goes down a bit, would be the best time to play.

WOW, such a nice playground. I just hope there are more shades for the kids to play

It's too bad they don't put a small pavilion at this play park, so there's some shade when it's needed. If the kids get acquainted here, starting pre-school will be a lot easier.

@spiderdust Wow, it's really a nice place, for your kids to play and meet other kids, also:)

There's a little shade like that created by some of the play structures, but it has a pretty big playground.

@spiderdust The meet up is a good idea. Too bad they cannot put something over it to keep the sun out and the shade in so the kids and parents both can enjoy the park. I am glad the park is a good place.
