We drove around Winchester to see what it had to offer and discovered their Walking Mall, an entire street that is closed to vehicular traffic. It was great. I just wish I could have walked it. For some reason, my body decided to hurt so bad, I was lucky to get from one spot to another, let alone stroll along many spots. But, we got to eat outside on the patio and I did so enjoy that. The temperatures were perfect and we got to people-watch while we ate really delicious Mexican food. I do intend to go back there, I can tell you.
We travel on a tight budget, so we either use coupons that give us 50% off our meals or find specials that fit our budget. This was one of those. El Centro Classic Mexican Food had lunch specials for $7.99 that included unlimited chips and salsa (a dollar less if you didn't want that). I got a burrito with cheese sauce and an enchilada, both with chicken. He got two Chiles Relleno. Both meals came with rice and beans (choice of black beans or refried pintos - we both got pintos). It was the perfect amount of food for lunch.
I really want to go back when I feel really good again because I want to walk Loudoun Street and see everything that's there.

If you like Winchester, they have a great celebration early in December. They invited me to come a few years ago and we enjoyed visiting the houses that are open for view, Stonewall Jackson's headquarters and George Washington's Office. There are carolers in the street and a very festive atmosphere.
