Inspired by Amber ( @ScribbledAdNauseum )'s latest series of discussions about books she has and hasn't read, I have decided to do something similar. I hope you don't mind me borrowing your idea Amber. I am going to be writing about booksthat I have read for this series. In hopes of not only sharing my opinion on these books but also sharing/ recommending books to my fellow readers here. "Grave Surprise" by Charlaine Harris is book number two in the Harper Connelly series of books. Harper Connelly is a young woman who was struck by lightning and in addition to the scars and physical damage it causedher is able to stand on the grave on decesed persons and "feel" or "see" how they were killed. She also has honed her gift to be able to seek out where bodies have been buried, especially when they are buried where they aren"t supposed to be. Follwing in the steps ofthe first book of the series Harper is on a job, this time she was called to a college by a professor who wants to expose her as a fraud. However once she demonstrates her gifts for the professors class, a case from her past presents itself and intertwines itself with the current one. The writing is okay, very easy to read and a little less difficult than what I generally like to read. I would classify it as paranormal young adult. That being said, "Grave Surprise" isn"t a horrible book. It has enough story substance and action to keep you interested, especially if you are in to paranomal things. If you are looking for a light read, or love paranormal novels- this is a book for you. Although make sure you read "Grave Sight" first to understand the story. I would give it a 6.5/10. I think John Green said it best when he said. "I don't care what they read, I care that they read."
When I was fifteen, I was struck by a bolt of lightning through an open window of the trailer where we lived...I recovered, mostly. I hav...

I am glad you tagged this discussion with reading because it will be easier for me to come back to them if need be later. I am not bothered at all by you starting your own series of books you've read. I really wish more people would talk about the books they've read here. Mylot used to have categories that you could find discussions in but they got rid of that years ago, I really wish they'd bring those back for this purpose alone. Oh and as for the book? It sounds like something I would enjoy. It also sounds similar to a movie I once watched. I'll have to tell you about that in a little while, it's dinner time here.

@thislittlepennyearns I remember you telling me about it. I do not remember the name of the movie and I am sure it's gone from netflix but let me see if I can do some digging and find out what it is called. No guarantee's but I'll atleast try.

I am hoping that more people discuss books too. Reading has always been such an important part of my life, as I am sure it has been yours as well. Its depressing how many people don't read due to the fact that they were simply never encouraged to do so. I miss categories as well. two of the other websites I wrote on in the past had them and it made finding things easier. Ooh I look forward to hearing about the movie. Enjoy dinner!

@ScribbledAdNauseum Do you remember what the movie is called? My grandmother taught me to read when I was about three and ever since I have read just about everything. I recently read another book that would fit in with this genre Ghosts of Idlewood. It was a free book on bookbub one day. Turned out to be much better than I thought it would be. I think we talked about it on the post I made about it.

@thislittlepennyearns Not all of it. Just the first two books. I might go back to it at some point and add it to my TBR list.

@thislittlepennyearns Hey they all don't have to be great literature. I've been known to read Nora Roberts' romance novels, all sorts of chick lit, even a few Amish "romance" books. Outlander has derailed me from reading other stuff for the past year but I normally read all sorts of stuff.

@NJChicaa I read everything too. I don't do Nora Roberts but I do read a lot of chick lit.

Not really. I mean there is but very loosely and very briefly. In the first one Harper had a fling, in this one her brother Tolliver sleeps with a woman. But that's about all of the romance aspect.
