I Went To The Carnival Last Night….

The small carnival up the street from my house is open for the week, so I went with my family. It’s not as glamorous as the picture I chose (from Pixabay) for this post, but it was $0.50 to get in, and it’s something to do. When we first got there, we found the flea market (which wasn’t there last year), so we went to check it out. I didn’t see anything I wanted though. Meh, it happens. After the flea market, we went back outside to the actual carnival. I bought a soda for a dollar to break change, so we could play the spin-the-wheel games. You put your quarters on a number and if the wheel lands on your number, you win a prize. My sister was trying to help my niece (her youngest daughter) win a prize, but they were unsuccessful. My niece wasn’t upset or anything, but we decided to take a break while waiting for our sister-in-law to get there. Welp, the guy running the booth gave my niece a Barbie doll anyways, which was really nice of him. :) I didn’t win anything, but my other niece won a strawberry cake, which we had when we got home. She won two cakes last year, but we told her to limit it to one this year haha. Once my sister-in-law got there, my niece went on rides and such with her cousins. The people who run the games were kind of irritating, as usual, except the guy who runs the fish game (you throw the balls into the empty fish bowls). He’s been there yearly and he’s always cool. He doesn’t try to get more money out of you. My two teenage nieces were working together and got a ball in, so he gave them each a fish ticket lol. I didn’t win any prizes. I told myself that any change left over would go into my NKOTB jar, but there wasn’t any left over lol. I thought about saving it, but I’ll have other opportunities to add to my jar, I just wanted to enjoy the carnival. I may be going back on Friday with my best friend and her son, but I’ll play it by ear. Other than a few minor irritations, it was a fun night. I finished my work shortly after getting home, and welp, I stayed up later than I had intended. Oh, and I did catch the last half hour of Smackdown. I missed Jeff but that’s okay, I’ll try to catch it on YouTube or Hulu, whenever I feel like it. Alrighty, I’m gonna get back to my work, and I’ll *try* to be back later for the Gratitude Challenge. I wanna see how much work I can get done before Wahlburgers comes on tonight lol. It’s not on until 10pm though, so I have a few hours. You all take care and enjoy your day. :) Photo Credit: Pixabay.

So glad you had a good time! And that was really sweet of them to give the Barbie. I forgot how different yours is from ours. With the prizes being cake, and fish, etc. Plus money to get in, although for .50 that's not bad at all.

@Courtlynn - Thanks! It was definitely nice of them to do. :) Yep, it's just a small church carnival, and the money earned probably goes to the church, or I assume it does. It's up the street so it gives us something to do out of the ordinary for a few hours. :)

I like going to those kind of things also. Not bad a Barbie Doll and a Strawberry Cake is not bad going at all. Its a very nice image and it captures the atmosphere of those kind of things like Carnivals or Fairs.

Oh definitely. My niece was happy and we all had a cake to enjoy later, not a bad night lol. I found the pic on Pixabay, I couldn't find one of a smaller carnival, but that one reminds me of the MD State Fair lol.

Wow! You made me nostalgic! We used to have such carnivals when we were kids! But today we hardly have such carnivals in Cities as there is no place available for them and people don't have time to enjoy them! I still like to visit Carnivals when ever it is possible! Don't you have any short shows likw magic show, Dog circus, Melting Man etc? Thanks!

@AKRao24 Nah, I live in Baltimore, I don't think it's that small lol. It was just a carnival with one of the churches in our neighborhood. :) Our bigger one is the Maryland State Fair, which I'd love to do again later this summer (whenever it opens). :)

I'm sorry there hasn't been many carnivals. I hope you can visit at least one this summer. We don't get shows at this carnival, as it's pretty small. I don't know if we get them at the arena; I think the circus comes here at times.

That sounds like a fun night, I love carnivals but they get pretty expensive once you get inside. Glad you had fun

Thanks! Yeah, this one was small and less expensive. When we do the State Fair, we wait for the "RideMania" - where it's $20 for a wristband to ride all the rides we want (but we don't go yearly). I don't do the games and all because they're already pricey, and the people like to try to get you to spend more.

@cintol Oh definitely. We usually get a drink and maybe fries or fried Oreos, but that's it.

@tammys85 Wow, $20 to ride unlimited rides is a pretty good price, not a bad price for a day of fun minus food and drinks of course lol

@tammys85 Did they have many rides? That was so nice of him to give her a barbie doll even though she did not win it.

They did, mainly for the little ones, plus the Ferris Wheel (I don't like heights) and some spinning ride. It was definitely nice of him to do that! We think it may have been because we were the only ones constantly playing at the time, but still, that was cool of him. :)

@Hannihar I'll do the kiddie ones with my niece, but not any that go too high or upside down. I don't like heights, and these days, it'd probably make me sick.

Sounds like a fun evening... and really cheap. We can't get anything for .50c. They should have had entry fee be a donation to the Food Bank or something like that. That's what we do here when they don't really want to charge an entry fee. Other than that, our fall fair costs $10.00 to get in and then all the money you can spend while in there. I haven't been since my kids are no longer kids. My husband is always away that weekend. Maybe some day I will go with my grandchildren. That will be fun.

The money probably goes towards the church, and it's right up the street, so I don't mind paying the 50 cents. We have the MD State Fair, but we don't go every year. When we do, we pay the $20 for "Ride Mania" and get a wristband for rides. I hope you can go again soon, esp. with your grandchildren. :)

That sounds like fun still. We went on the carnival 2 weeks ago and we only won a small key chain.
