I think if someone who will buy a whole watermelon, he/she must be very rich Although many things are expensive in Japan, but the watermelon is really quite expensive. Perhaps they buy them in pieces rather than a whole one because of the high price.

I'm glad I don't live in Japan. Because my favorite fruit in summer is watermelon.

We also have watermelon here in the summer in Israel. I am not a watermelon person so do not buy it. They are very heavy. I would think someone with expensive clothes and drives in a car where they have a chauffeur that they are rich.

Do you mean because of what I said about how you can tell a rich person or the what I said about watermelon? The people that had my cat before me named her Watermelon. I thought she did not look like one at all and I thought the name was stupid. I renamed her Sophie. She looks like a Sophie to me.

Pieces are good. I think that sometimes we deserve the expensive stuff. If we don't get it all the time we can afford it.

Oh, watermelon here abounds because it is summer. When we buy, we buy one or two whole watermelons. We make it for dessert. So delicious especially when you put the slices of watermelon for an hour or two at the freezer.
We always buy whole watermelon, but we are not rich.

I got a huge watermelon last week for $3.99 at Aldi.
How much are they there, in US dollars.

I think it's the square watermelon that is expensive. Sometimes they don't even eat it. It's just used for display as I've read one time.

How much does a watermelon cost in Japan? I'm really curious.

@renicemae The imported watermelons will not be as expensive as the local ones in Japan.

@youless What? That expensive? Are all those watermelons, imported? But even if those were imported, it shouldn't cost that much.

Watermelon's don't cost very much here. Most things did seem pretty expensive in Hawaii though.

I would not judge a person on how rich they are based on their purchase of a whole water melon I would rather if they have a host of cars in their garage.
