A Good Man

We went to the library a couple of days ago and brought home the most uninteresting books you could ever find if you tried. I wanted some light reading material and I struck the jackpot. I started reading one book and I usually finish what I start.
It's about several girls who were friends in school. They don't really like each other but they stay in touch for old times sake. One becomes a druggie and not very bright about men. I've gotten to the part where she is turning thirty and no real prospects in sight. I'm betting she will find a good man who, wants to marry her. I'm about three fourths through the book.

@RubyHawk - It sounds like a fun book to read. I recently read, "America's First Daughter." It is the biography of Patsy Jefferson, the daughter of Thomas Jefferson who was considered the most educated woman in America during her lifetime. She also was not very bright about men and lead a fascinating life. If you want another interesting book to read after your current one, you might check it out.

@Marty1 - I really enjoyed reading "America's First Daughter," and so did my husband. It is long, but worth it.

@RubyHawk Hallmark movies are always good. At the end of the story, they always find true love:)

@arunima25 It is, a disappointing ending can ruin the whole book, but it didn't matter with this book, it was disappointing anyway.

I find it somewhat funny how you described it. "Most uninteresting books you could find if you tried."
I think I'd just as soon use those as coasters.
I think I know what you mean though. Something without a lot of plot and involvement. A simple read that is straightforward enough. I do like those types of books from time to time.

@RubyHawk Sometimes a picture (cover) isn't worth 1000 words. I've come across plenty of covers of books that look much better than the contents within.

@ScribbledAdNauseum So have I. I usually read a page or two in a book before I check it out so I'm not often disappointed.

I usually finish books too. One book I didn't finish because it wasn't what I thought it was. Pretty flowers.

I'm about 85% through "A Woman in a Million" by Monica Wood. I'm 20% through "Major Pettigrew's Last Stand" by Helen Simonson.

I also like light reading when I just want to relax and not get involved with a book I feel I can't put down. I get a lot of those as freebies on Amazon or from authors. I started one I just can't make myself keep reading. It is truly one of the most boring books I've ever read. The dialog is as dull as it can be. It's realistic enough -- just like your own family might talk at the breakfast table -- words without much substance. I can almost predict the end, though I can't even remember the plot right now. I doubt if I will finish it. Reading it is an agonizing process.
