That is not my Bank

Philippines
June 25, 2018 10:44pm CST
Opened my email and saw this bogus email coming from a Bank I didn't even applied to. We did settle for the credit card on this bank but that was a long time ago. Maybe It has something to do with the website were I watch the korean series but they kept popping up strange ads. I hope my email doesn't get hack, good thing I didn't click on it. I've already delete it.

It's a phishing mail, its gonna trick you into entering your bank information in the guise that they are upgrading their security.

@Letranknight2015 exactly, it's sent out like a shotgun to thousands of emails hoping that it would hit then fool or scare somebody who has an account and fall for the trap, that is why it's like a fishing expedition.

One way to avoid the hassle is to have another e-mail account for junk mail.

@Letranknight2015 _Some unscrupulous websites sell their e-mail lists to other websites which is the reason I occasionally get e-mails from sites I didn't sign on or have no knowledge of.

They send out these things to thousands of people at a time, hoping that some percentage of them will have accounts at the bank in question, and will be silly enough to respond and enter their details - which will of course then give the scammers access to their accounts. Real banks never send emails like this. If you get one, even purporting to be from a bank where you have an account, just delete it.
