Not a wide selection of favorite W-titled girl songs for this trivia quiz. And what's even more distressing, X-actly no girl songs of the X-variety to quiz you on. So, with X-tremly limited options, I do have 2 selections for you to decipher. Here are your songs and band/artists clues- Who dunnit? 1. This was a song written about a guy by a female friend of Van Dyke Parks who collaborated with Brian Wilson from the Beach Boys. Our mystery group for today turned the tune into a song about a girl. This was one of the first Hot 100 chart-toppers composed entirely by a female songwriter. The track was a # 1 hit for this Pop group from California in 1967. The group is noted for it's intricate vocal harmonies present in the "ba-ba-ba-ba-ba" backing vocals on this track. This group was the opening act at the Monterey Pop Festival in 1967. This was the band's second #1 hit. Their first was "Cherish," recorded the previous year. 2. This American rock band consisted of 3 brothers, a cousin, and a friend. This was another breakup song where in the lyrics the girl goes out with another guy and leaves the boy all alone. On September 27, 1964, the group performed this tune as well as "I Get Around" on The Ed Sullivan Show. This song was the "B" side to their hit "Good Vibrations."
