What "older" music have you been listening to lately?

I was driving home from work on Friday and found myself singing Morning Has Broken, by Cat Stevens. It's a lovely song and reminds me of my childhood. I made a vow to go through my vinyl collection and give the album a listen. I was too busy doing nothing yesterday, so I got around to it this morning. It's still a great album, and Morning Has Broken is still my favorite song on the album. Do you ever go back and listen to your favorite "old" music? What's on your list right now? As I write, I'm listening to Summer Side of Life, by Gordon Lightfoot. Am I a folky at heart? The answer is "yes."

I listened to The Bangles last night. Is that old enough?

Heh. Youngun'. Is that from the '80s and '90s? Which band member is the famous handsome soccer player married to? I ran into them at the airport in Oakland.

I am falling down laughing. If you think the Bangles are old, what does that make the GoGos? And the Supremes must have been prehistoric timers.

My music taste is eclectic anyway. I don't go back and listen to my favourite old music because that would suggest that I stopped listening to it in the first place! I've been switching between a few radio stations in the car. Mostly 80s but some classical (that's quite old :D ). The last song on my itunes play list was Donovan's Sunshine Superman. I have also hear a few songs that I assume are old than they are. I think that's because they sound like music used to! I am not listening to any music now, though, as my youngest son is watching something on TV.

Sunshine Superman is pretty "early," I think. Do you have favorite '80s bands? Mine would be Dire Straits and REM.

I specially love that song. I often sing it while in the shower (not as well as Cat Stevens) when springtime starts.

I copied on a USB pen many very old songs that I like to play when we are in the car. I was listening to the old Rolling Stones songs last Sunday while we were going to Italy.

Heh. I was thinking of early childhood days, but even I wasn't around during Bach's time. Mozart's maybe. Heh. Bach is my favorite composer.

Unfortunately, I don't have enough time to go back to my music favorites... I love old music, especially the 60's and the 70's, rock and rock&roll, but others too. I always felt old music had soul, it was "real", that's why so many people still love it

I agree. To me, everythng after 1975 or so became "over-produced" and not as real.

@Kasjnak I sometimes ask myself if I would "sell out." Would I write a song for Britney Spears if she offered me $1,000,000? Probably. But maybe I'd use a fake name.

The most 'old music' I listen to is at the gym when I'm in the pool. This morning's selection was from Josh Groban. I had only heard his name before. He's got a good voice. I don't know if that's the correct spelling of his last name.

I have my collection on my laptop . Lately, I have been listening to Ennio Morricone's music. The Mission is one of my favorites. (I might listen the next second to something like Kitaro - Silk Road or "She drives me crazy" (The young Cannibals) etc)
