Well, basically they are representation of the same thing being parts of a whole.
But ,I am not about to give a math lesson out here(my holidays are on)
Thing is most of the time I see the decimal is only up to two places.Mylot shows it's earnings up to 4 places of decimals. That is a very very small part of the earning.
In the course of another discussion @hereandthere remarked that it is there because when even a small increase is reflected in our earnings , it acts as a great motivating factor.
What's your take on this?

Hi ARM. @hereandthere have a good poin.t It can be frustrating though that it has four decimal places, which sometimes dishearten you from making it to at least a dollar. Maybe the whole point is to motivate and keep going until you reach for that one dollar and then the cycle goes on.

That must be it.
The earnings do creep at a snail's pace so 4 decimal points I guess

@responsiveme Yes, I agree. But eventually, I do not care about the 4 decimal places as long as I continue to respond and interact. They are moving at a fast pace when you do that.

@responsiveme Yes, the larger the number, the better.

It's the unusual 4 decimals instead of the 2 that I was wondering about.
Not earnings per se, they are not much for me anyway

I was interested in your title as I have been looking for resources to teach my son fractions.
Well, I didn't really think about that in our earnings. I guess when it shows 4 decimal places, it helps us to see the increase more often and more motivating. If it shows a whole number, then perhaps I might get that number for months.

@responsiveme In our case it does not make a lot of difference, but it's surely useful to allow them to make a precise calculation.

Yes, it is usual to represent the numbers only up to 2 decimals except for scientific calculations. That's why I was interesred

I keep track of all the tiny moves. A fraction of a fraction of a cent. Of cousre I'm also the kind of person who picks up and saves pennies in real life.

It´s an strategic move, I think. The same happens with bitcoins; the numbers are infinitesimal and people tend to think that that amount is too much but it´s not. The more numbers anyone sees, the more motivated one gets and that works in the mind

More numbers to the right of the decimal point means smaller portions

At times I wish I had more time to spend on this website, but because my art is so popular I am painting most of my day and I miss my friends on myLot. I do believe that even the small numbers do encourage (motivate) the members. It doesn't motivate me only because I am making good money with my art, but if I wasn't making money I would be here more. I miss it now that I don't have the time to be here..

Probably that's the reason, the motivation factor. Some people are happy to see even a tiny increase, others need way more . It depends on what you want, if you enjoy something, you don't care much about a reward, if you do it for money, you may feel dissappointed. The FUN rulz!

It's basically the unusual 4 decimal rather than the usual 2 that I was wondering about

Actually more than motivation it's the unusual use of decimals to 4 places that made me wonder.
