Dreamworld is a themepark located in Queensland, Australia. The land was purchased in 1974 by John Longhurst. After seven years of him and his crew working tirelessly the park officially opened on December 15th, 1981. Longhurst brought in engineers and a crew of people that had worked on Disney. He wanted his park to be the best, and ensured that by bringing in who he thought was the best and brightest to help him bring his dreams to fruition. Notable attractions location in this 240 acre theme park include the Dreamworld Express which is a rideable train. The Vintage Cars attraction which contained model T cars when the park was first opened. The Rocky Hollow Log ride, which is similar to the Splash Mountain Ride which is famous in the Disney theme parks. A more recent addition to the theme park is the Australian Koala Theatre. The park suffered a great tragedy on October 25th 2016. Four people were killed on the Thunder River Rapids ride, when a vacant raft became stuck when approaching the unloading platform. The stuck raft caused the raft behind it to flip over. When it flipped four adult riders were tossed out and were killed when they became entangled in the machinery. Two children who were also aboard survived the wreck without any major injured. Due to the deaths on the ride, the park closed and the ride was demolished before the park reopened a little over a month later in December. Since 2001 Australian Big Brother has been filmed at a house located in Dreamworld.

@JudyEv I wouldn't be surprised if the staff at many of these thrill rides at amusement and/or theme parks around the world aren't properly trained. I know many of the them parks here in the US hire college kids as their staff.

@moffittjc @thislittlepennyearns I haven't been there but the inquest into the deaths has been in the news recently and might still be going on. It seems the staff in charge of the ride had had little or no training in what to do in the event of an emergency.

It is interesting to read about Dreamland in Queensland. It is so bad that on 25th October in 2016 4 people were killed on that ride they went on. It is excellent the two children on it were able to stay alive. I live in England and 2 deaths have happened in bouncy castles lately. I have visited Australia twice in my life. I spent 10 months there my first time visiting New South Wales, South Australia, Victoria, Queensland and the Northern Territory. The second time I visited Western Australia where I was able to see my cousin. I dream of taking my two children to Australia. Magical feeling places are Kangaroo Island and the Great Barrier Reef. Sydney is my favourite city in the world.
