Who's Going to Win the World Cup?

Okay, we're down to the final four teams in the World Cup! England, Belgium, France and Croatia. Who is everyone rooting for? I was extremely happy Croatia beat Russia, but not because I hate the Russians or anything. One of my coworkers is Russian, and I just want the satisfaction of being able to tease her about her team losing! haha I will be cheering on the young chaps of England from this point on, unless of course they lose their next match against Croatia. If England loses, I'm not sure who I will root for at that point. It's interesting that this particular Word Cup comes down to an all-European semi-finals and finals. Who would have thought that all the powerhouse teams like Germany, Brazil, and Mexico would have been eliminated so early? And sigh...the United States didn't even qualify. What a letdown that was.

You are holding a football in your profile picture you silly girl! How can you say you're not a football fan? Please pick England to cheer for, just to humor me!

With the exception of France, I wouldn't mind seeing any of the other three teams win. I'm thinking that if England loses their next match, I may just root for Belgium to win it all.

@Kandae11 I never bet on sports in general, unless it's a friendly wager. One time, when the New York Yankees were playing the Boston Red Sox (baseball), I made a bet with my friend that the loser had to wear a dress in New York City. I lost the bet, and spent a day walking around Manhattan in a dress and high heels. It was quite embarrassing, but it was all in good fun.

@moffittjc I am sure many people lost money betting on these matches - so many upsets. I would never bet on the outcome of a World cup match - too unpredictable.

This year even Italy did not qualify, Italians were devastated. Football is a big thing here in Europe, but I do not care at all of football. My guess, France wins.

@moffittjc It's just the first team that came to my mind, they have won several times in the past.

@LadyDuck Well Anna, considering that France and Croatia will play in the finals match, you may be correct in your prediction that France will be crowned the World Cup Champion! We will find out soon enough!

It's still a sport that has not quite caught on fully here in the US, although it is slowly growing in popularity. Americans like lots of actions, lots of violence, and lots of scoring, something you don't see much of in football. France is probably who I like the least out of the four remaining teams.

Boo on no US soccer team. I'm not following it much. But I would have to pick Belgium and France make it to the finals.

Soccer still hasn't caught on as a major sport here yet. It's getting there, but we have a long, long way to go. We got lucky the last two World Cups to even make it in; this time, we weren't so lucky.

@KristenH We'll have to wait four more years. The World Cup is like the Olympics, it only takes place every four years. I'm hoping that the United States will improve its team over the next 2-3 years so we can be competitive when the next World Cup rolls around.

@just4him I'm just disappointed that the two teams I was hoping would make it to the finals both ended up losing. So now the two teams that are left (France and Croatia), I don't care much about either one. So I have no idea who I will end up rooting for in the final. Maybe I'll just flip a coin or something, or maybe I'll just decide based on whichever team's uniforms I like best or something! haha

It's all over Judy. France beat Croatia to win the World Cup. I admit that I didn't watch the final. Once England got beat, I lost interest. I'm sure Australia lasted longer than the US, as we didn't even qualify for the World Cup this year. Pretty embarrassing.

During the World Cup, I only watched one game from start to finish, and that is when Croatia played Russia. I don't like Croatia at all, but I was pulling for them to beat Russia. It was nice to see the Russian team knocked out! One of my co-workers is Russian (I swear she is a spy), and so nothing pleased me more than to be able to tease her about Russia's loss. I'm pretty sure I am now marked for termination by the KGB as a result of teasing her!
