Laundry and a Movie

My son had today off, but that didn't mean he was home. However, he did say I could do laundry today. Turned out it was also my grandson's day off as well, and he helped me do my laundry. My knees were in no shape today to do stairs. I'm certain the weather has something to do with it, since they've been doing good lately. One thing I found disconcerting was his lack of care regarding my friend who passed last month. Is it only me, who cares about friends and loved ones who pass, and the younger generation just looks as it with a 'everyone is going to die someday, life goes on' attitude? What happened to mourning and grieving? Is it really selfish for those who care to care about those we are fond of and have a lot of history with to mourn those we knew and spent a lot of time with in the past? I don't find it selfish. I think it means I care. With everything that happened, I started watching the Harry Potter movies yesterday, so I've now seen the first two again - Sorcerer's Stone, and Chamber of Secrets. For me it's helping me get through the grieving stage. I haven't spent a lot of time on my book, but I have worked on it. With the fact my friend has passed, it has actually helped me with the book as I was able to focus my emotions on the key areas which needed help. Doing so, I've added another 4000 words to the book. I've also gotten the calendar worked out a bit better. It's all coming together the way it should. That's what I've been doing. Now, that the laundry is done and I'm home, and the movie is over, it's time to get back to myLotting and interacting. I did get some interaction done this morning before I needed to take a nap prior to going to my son's. As for the pool, the whirlpool is still not working, though hopefully the part came in today and they fixed it so it will be available tomorrow. I also worked out for a few minutes in the fitness center on the elliptical. I'm back to the beginning again with it, and with the weather playing havoc with my knees, five minutes was all I could do. I also stopped at the store for some necessary produce, particularly bananas. I don't want to cook in this heat, but I do still need to eat, so I got produce that will work for salads. That has been my day. Now to find out about your day. Thanks for reading.

@DianneN They were there when I wrote the first word of Scarred. She's seen different versions of it as I wrote the draft. He always asked me if he knew a published author yet. When I published Scarred, I sent them a signed book with the inscription - Rich, you now know a published author. He was a wonderful person and full of encouragement. He'll be missed.

It's under Received Hard News. Thank you. It was a shock, but not unexpected. He's had health issues, particularly his heart for a while now. But even in expecting the news, it's unexpected.

@Hannihar One of my favorite summer dishes is cucumbers in vinegar with onions. I bought a couple cucumbers for that purpose yesterday.

I also observe this trait here, youngsters of today is insensitive to people who die whether it's blood. They don't take it seriously though it is common for us Filipino's to grieve especially if it has to be from the clan. Harry Potter is a good movie.

It's a shame they're so insensitive to it. I've seen posts about your culture surrounding grieving. I enjoy the movies.

@just4him Yeah. One time I talk to my cousin during my Uncle's wake that they should lower their voice when talking because they are laughing very hard. They should respect the wake.

I think it is sometimes difficult for some young people to empathize if they haven't had any experience of personal loss.

His father passed away three years ago, so have his grandparents, so he's experienced with it. He also knew the person personally.

Younger people are caught in a rush, it was like this before, it is now and it will always be like this. It's not that they don't care, they are not allowing themselves to care. It's not a selfish thing to mourn a loved one that passed away, it shows you care and when they go, they take a piece of you with them. Good choice with Harry Potter, by the way . As for my day, I went to work, 9 hours later I got back home, waited for my son to eat, we went shopping and after that we met with some friends at some restaurant. We finally got back home at 22:00 hours, put my son to sleep, watched a little TV, took a shower and now I'm myLotting a little . Take care, we'll meet again tomorrow .

I know you're right. I know when I was younger, I didn't think about people dying, and not many people in my family did die when I was younger. My children were little when my first grandparent passed, so we tend to live long in my family. My parents were in their 80's when they passed a couple years ago. I'm sure it would have been different if I had lost people when I was younger. I'm glad you had a good evening.

@just4him thank you. I hope your evenings from now on will be pleasant and fun . That's how we work, it means we are just some regular human beings. As time goes by, these events become more and more present and they take more and more from us. Not much we can do . Take care and see you soon .

We are busy collecting information so hubby can get help from VA, but yesterday we were having a yearly physical for him, and going to "do battle" over a $4000 bill that neither medicare nor the insurance he was paying for will pay. I liked his doctor visit, it was helpful.

Oh a nap huh? Naps certainly help just a few minuets and one could be rejuvenated. What a great idea. A good salad sounds great!

It was rejuvenating. I get up very early, so a mid morning nap is usually perfect. I'm planning on eating a lot of salads this summer. It looks like it's going to be a very hot summer.

I am like you in feeling the sorrow of someone's passing away. I too find people of the younger generation rather uncaring. I love to watch Harry Potter whenever it comes on the TV. But I think I must buy the set sometime.
