Okay, my weigh in was July 4, and being a holiday, I weighed myself at home, since the YWCA was closed. I know the scales are the same, so I'm confident I have a correct reading. The fact is I gained two pounds. Now, it isn't a lot, but it is discouraging. I was hoping the picture would show progress with inches lost, but I can't see any change, so I've been sitting on this plateau for a while now. No, I'm not giving up. Before anyone tries to tell me how to eat healthy, and what proportions, and what to cut out and what is best. Let me just let those of you who don't know what the Whole30 food program is. Number one, it's not a diet program. You do lose weight on it because you're eating healthy. I can eat meat, fish, and poultry. Due to my allergies, I can't eat chicken. I do eat a lot of turkey. No deli meats. No dairy, except eggs. I eat a lot of eggs a month. I can eat most vegetables, not all. No peas, corn, or dry beans. I can also eat all fruit. No sugar of any kind, no soda, no alcohol. No breads or grains. Whatever is not mentioned above, is what I eat. I also only eat two meals a day, a large breakfast, and a medium to large supper. I snack on fresh or frozen fruit, thawed. So, for the last 11 months, I haven't had any sweets, no pasta, no dairy - so no ice cream in these hot summer months. I've made some progress, losing on average 30 pounds total. Foods I found that are Whole30 compatible: Almond flour - because it's a nut not a grain, and Avocado oil mayo - does not contain any sugar, also almond butter, sugar free. I can eat all nuts, but due to my peanut allergy, peanuts, peanut butter and any peanut related foods is off my diet. What I drink - lots of water and tea. I'm not a coffee drinker. Also Cashew and Almond milk. They're a great substitute for regular milk, and lasts a lot longer. With the picture above, I am discouraged, but I'm not quitting this food plan. It is working, and I'm healthier than I have been in a long time. As for exercise, I'm in the pool almost every morning - Monday to Friday, and I'm now back in the fitness center again. My knees are finally ready for the workout again after the mishaps from a month ago. Though I skipped the fitness center this morning. My right knee was very bad, but I was able to finally get the massage they needed in the hot tub/whirlpool this morning. Those jets felt great against my knees. So, I should be back in the fitness center again tomorrow. That's the food program, and what I can and can't eat. When you consider I only eat twice a day, I'm really not eating all that much. And I'm eating healthy. Thanks for reading.

Do not feel discouraged, you lost a lot, it happens to have small changes in weight, this does not mean that you are on the right track.

@just4him Summer is a bad timing for diet, because the body needs less calories due to the heat and it retains more water.

@sol_cee It means that the diet is based on "whole foods". It is one of the most popular diet even if It was selected as one of the worst health trends for 2013 by Health Magazine.

Because my father is diabetic, I fear to be one too. Thus, I cut on sugar , black coffee only and avoid sweet beverages. I eat sweets such as cake but on occassions only. I also lessen my rice intake. I noticed I began losing weight since my pants all loosened up. I don't like that because I just want to retain my body built and weight. So, I sometimes would have sugar on my coffee and sometimes none. I eat more protein and i eat more. I regained my lost weight again.

Don't be discouraged! Its likely muscle! Anytime someone regular works out (swimming, walking) etc you are using and strengthening muscle! Muscles actually help burn more calories than fat alone.

Thank you for that encouraging word. I have no intention of giving up. I would just like to see continued results somewhere. My friend at the pool told me not to worry about it. It all takes time. I'm impatient. Not a good trait, but I have no intention of giving up, not when I'm feeling better than I have in many years. By the way, this is what I hope to get back to. I know I was 18 on that picture, but I was 115 pounds, and that's my goal weight.

You may want to consult with a nutritionist to see what they recommend..Sadly, you are in kind of a hard place..because your physical condition probably.isn't going to enable you to probably do as much aerobic activity as you might need to do to lose weight a bit faster. Maybe more than a monthly weigh in is in order. However, you have made great strides and kudos!!

Thank you. I went to a nutritionist a couple years ago. What she did, I could have done on my own, which I have done. I was expecting more and received a lot less from her.

Every one of our bodies is different. Our hormones have a lot of play into how we keep our fat and how easy it is to get rid of it as well. You are making progress and that is definitely what matters. Is cashew milk tasty?

I think your body has gotten used to what you've been doing and you aren't going to lose any more unless you make a change. If I were you, I'd start cutting calories. Eliminate some of the bananas and potatoes each day, the guacamole, stuff like that. I know you don't have to count calories with Whole30, but as you know Whole30 isn't designed for weight loss. If you want to lose weight with it, you DO need to take into consideration how many calories you are consuming. Obviously, at this point, it is too many for your body to continue losing weight.

I did a calorie count a few days ago of the day when I ate the most, and I came to around 1000, that was a heavy eating day. I am cutting down on potatoes, and even substituting sweet potatoes, but not often. I'm trying to limit my bananas to two a day.

@just4him Valerie, thank you for clearing all that up for us. Gaining two pounds is not that bad. I am sure you will lose that fast. Glad to know it is a program and not a diet. I was in OA and I for one know that diets were not the answers. OA had too where one could learn how to eat healthy. I liked the part about giving up things. Keep up the good work. You look fantastic and I know you will get to your goal weight. You are a determined person.

@just4him I know you are because I see the picture below and you telling us you were not fat before so I know you want to get back down to that thin person again. I am so glad you found the program that works best for you and you did not do a diet thing. I found throughout the years that when i went on a diet they did not work so had to find something that would work for me and I found OA. I do not go to it anymore but learned from it. In the beginning I still did not understand it but one day someone said something that stuck and that is how I learned. I have given up some things and also I do not eat a lot like I once did. As a matter of fact there are days I do not get hungry at all and when we have fast days it is easy for me to fast even not drinking too.

I have quite the opposite problem. I eat a lot, but my body actually burns food while I'm eating. Did a test some time ago, me and my wife decided to eat the same amount of food, we had identical meals and we did a weigh-in before and after. Well, we both had one pound of food and the weigh-in for her showed she gained exactly one pound. Mine showed I gained only 4 oz... Apparently I must eat at least 3400 calories/day, otherwise I'm losing weight . To me it seems you're doing ok, keep exercising and stay healthy .

@just4him indeed. My body burns calories very fast . It's good if I want to be thin, but not so good for my internal organs, they work too much and that's gonna be a problem later.

You are doing great, so don’t give up. The pounds will come off. On our walk last night, my son told me it’s best to eat smaller meals more frequently and to watch my daily calories. After looking at his body, I began today. Off for a beauty treatment. Hopefully I will see you later.

Have a good beauty treatment. I've tried having the smaller meals. It just doesn't work for me to eat more often. When I get into one of my 'hungry' days, I'll eat three meals, but that's rare.
