Why do members of the Royal Family have to follow so many rules?

I honestly think it's a bit much.. You can't sleep until the queen does? Honey, if I'm tired, I'M SLEEPING. I don't really understand how a woman who is like 100 years old is literally controlling people's sleeping. No holding hands with your lover in public? What's the point of that? Like it's a sweet gesture. I don't know man, these rules I've read that the royal family has to follow is just too drastic. I couldn't do it, even for love. That's sacrificing too much, in my opinion.

Well, naturally, The Queen is the head of State, so NOBODY in England goes to bed before the Queen herself does! If anyone is caught doing so, they will be charged with Treason and put in the Tower of London until they can be publicly hanged! There are many pages on the Internet listing the 'rules' that the Royal Family observe. Some have a long history, some are simply etiquette which most of the upper classes in England would be expected to know and practice in public, anyway, some are protocols which display respect for the monarchy while many of the ones you'll see published are complete fiction! It is true that members of the Royal family when on official engagements don't display too much private affection for each other. Nobody would do that whilst they were performing any kind of official duty. It is NOT, of course, true that when the Queen retires for the night, everyone else has to, though it will depend on whether it's an official party or a private one as to whether it continues after the Queen has signalled that she is leaving.

Maybe because they're role model.

For the reason that they are authoritative and governed by its government rules.

Rules are made to distinguish them from common people
