I didn't get any books

I did go to the thrift store today and saw some I wanted to grab but they took awhile to look through my DVDs and by the time that was done I just decided to leave. I received $37.53 for the dvds + an $11.xx store credit. I asked them what their day limit was and they said 4 totes was their day limit. I might go for more dvds the next time I go. They didn't take all of my dvds this time and so I will attempt to sell them at another place. I probably won't worry about the rejects until after I get back from my trip. I've got upwards of $100.00 saved in cash alone and a further $30.00 saved in my paypal account. $200 is what I budgeted I would need for my trip and so I am nearly there with the potential of being a little over that amount. There are 10 days left until my trip. I will need to get a hat and some motion sickness pills for the journey.

Yay, 12 days to go for your trip and $70 more. I think you still have time Amber. You can do it.

Oh I am sure I'll accomplish it with two more trips to the thrift store. I am already anticipating my next visit. There's another store I want to visit soon but I probably will wait until after I get back.

@JustBhem It's ten more days I had miscalculated and forgot to edit the discussion. Yes, I am not sure how many photos I will take but I'll try to get some of the festivities. If nothing else I'll take pictures of the stuff I buy.

It's working out great for your trip. Do you mean the thrift stores buy items from you. They don't do that here. We donate items and they sell them. Some do donate some of their earnings to a charity. But we who donate get nothing.

This is like a buy / sell / trade thrift store. Yes I am so happy that I've gotten that much and I am going back again tomorrow to get rid of more. I am hoping to go twice again next week and that weekend will be the trip.

@RubyHawk This one was founded in the 70's. Goodwill and the salvation army are pretty good alternatives but of course you can't sell items to them.

@ScribbledAdNauseum I wish we had buy and sale thrift stores. I'd never heard of one before.

I love this. You have a goal and you are taking the steps you need to get there.

Yes and I honestly should set more goals like this. I get too lazy about some things. I have an image in mind of what I want my bedroom to look like after I get done. The final result will take quite awhile to achieve but the biggest step is getting rid of the movies and creating space.

How many DVDs do you have? Do most thrift stores paid for DVDs? I thought they only took donations. Is it in a higher income neighborhood?

Upwards of 700 dvds. This is a media thrift store. They have anything from comic books to old records to pop funko action figures and calculators. This is an older area but not "high end" at all. There are several thrit stores and pawn shops in my area that take DVDs. This shop is one of the ones that will pay the most for them.

@AmbiePam My brother would go to the $5.00 bin at walmart and buy up a bunch. I think he even bought some when a movie gallery was going out of business. He absolutely loved movies and would watch them for hours and hours.

Good luck gettng the rest of the money for your trip and hope you have a safe travel! are any of your dvds horror movies or Comedies or any from the 80s?

I think the oldest movie I have here is Pete's Dragon which was released in '77. Horror is the main theme of the movies. Friday The Thirteenth, Halloween, Amityville Horror. I've sold off a lot of them already. Comedies too.

You got this! you can make it, does this include the $37.53 you got today?
• United States

Yes, it's a total of $115.00 in cash but $10.00 of that went towards my cellphone bill. So $105.00 in cash alone. I'll go probably two more times before the trip.

I am sure I will as well. I average about $25.00 every time I bring DVDs in. " As an aside, textbroker locked me from doing anymore orders until they can re-evaluate my writing. I had written 5 articles and they chose one of them to reassess. I hope they don't take too long to do that.
