i just came upon this video on youtube and it is quite heartbreaking. How some people just marry another for dowry and just leave or abuse them 
It is also quite recent, and may still be happening to some.
Dowry system should be removed though. I wonder why it is still in practice until today.

The dowry system can lead to many abuses, even though, I´m sure, it started for good reasons. I hope it is abolished.

@lady1993 I think in my country the most we have is to give the couple wedding presents.

That's an antiquated situation and so sad for these women. Hope it gets corrected as soon as possible.
