I am constantly irritated by my neighbor's habit of hanging his clothes on his gate or on the shared fence. He would do a lot of work in his yard and then wash his work clothes, dog towels and mats and hang them on the fence, on his gate or on his car in the front of his yard to dry. He no longer hangs them on the shared fence since I have since planted a couple trees there and I guess he doesn't want to damage them. I would rather look at trees than someone's laundry. Then he started hanging them on his side gate which I can see from my kitchen window. I found another solution to that. I hung planters outside my window so now all I see is beautiful flowers. Is a nice view important to you?

I wouldn't want to look at someone's laundry out my windows. I do like a good view. I'm glad you came up with a couple solutions.

I am glad I did too. Much better looking at nature than someone's laundry

Certainly planters look much better than someone else's clothes. Since we are staying in tropical country, most of the families here do not have dryer at home and we hang our clothes in the front yard. (Most of us don't have backyard.) I am fine with that as it's not so near for us to reach others' front yard and the hanging clothes. I usually see my own front yard or my neighbor's front yard when I look outside. Well, not really a beautiful view, but we have used to it since we are staying in terraced house. I usually choose to look higher to see the beautiful sky.

This is an area with larger houses and the neighbor has a large backyard where he could put a line and hang clothes, I also hang clothes in k=my backyard during the summer months. I just see no need for him to drape his clothes over a fence that is shared. Legally I own that side of the fence but I didn't want to cause a dispute so I just planted some trees.

He can do what we all do, put a line up in his large backyard. I really don't want to look at his drawers draped over my side of the fence.

Naaa don`t bother me. I used to have to hang out my clothes because I did not have a dryer. I will just look out another window on that day of laundry.

Oh I have nothing against it since I do it as well and it is good for the environment. My issue in this case is where he hangs it, not in the huge backyard he has but in my line of vision. Does he do it on purpose? Who knows.

I see your point. When looking out your window one wants a pleasant view not laundry. My neighbor used to lean stuff against my fence which I did not appreciate. One time they had a row boat which fell against my fence. I have since removed anything touching my boundary. Some people just are so inconsiderate and self-absorbed. I have also put up evergreens along my property so I don't have to see them, the junk on their front lawn, or their dilapidated home.

That is exactly how I feel about the whole thing. Difficult to understand what they are thinking or perhaps they are not thinking at all.

I don't think I would want to be looking at someone else's clothes all the time. I honestly don't like hanging clothes outside..but if I do it is usually just towels..however,,there is a lot of privacy here and people really can't see.

i wonder if he chooses those spots because he can see and remember them, unlike if he hung them in the back?

We have a wide view of tall trees and a school building behind them. It's the first school I taught at.

He should have known by now you are uncomfortable and disapprove of his action. Some are persistent in annoying others! siva

I love to look at nice views too! Hanging mats in front of the fence, or even clothes is not a "welcome sight," although there could be some considerations like when that person has no more space to hang his laundry. In our place, it is banned to hang clothes/laundry in front of the house/yard.

Not a very considerate neighbor. I am sure he has other out of your sight places where he can hang them.
