My Week Without a Car

I know I've mentioned before that my daughter and I share a car. Usually she only works two days a week in the office but this week they needed her for four days. She's covering while other co-workers are on vacation which is a double edged sword. She has a two hour drive each way to work which has made her extremely tired. Last night She was getting a Charlie horse in her driving leg which in turn made her a bit cranky. Next week she's doing another four days so another week I'm without a car. Normally it works out fine for us and we run our errands on the days she's home. Now everything will be crammed into the weekend. I really don't have anywhere I need to go but it just seems the days I don't have the car are days I want to go out. Eventually she'll have to get her own car but for now we have to share.

I didn't know you shared a car. It always seems that when you don't have the use of it, that's when you want to use it.

Yes we've been sharing a car for awhile now but it isn't a problem when she only works two days a week.

That is a hard drive on her body each day! I know what you mean, seems without a car we feel trapped. But its just a feeling.

The commute is a killer but it's not so bad when she only works two days a week. Isn't it funny how we want to go somewhere when the car isn't here. Other times it could sit in the garage and I don't feel the need to go anywhere

Oh bummer...you always want what you can't have..I bet if you had the car sitting there, you wouldn't want to go anywhere!

That is a very long commute. I'd hate to spend so long driving to and from work.

I don't have a car so I need to ride a jeepney every day whenever I go to school and that was very hard because my school is approximately 13kms and also most of the people who have a car here in the Philippines are those people who are rich.

Oh, I know the feeling of not wanting to go, but not wanting to be restricted from going. If she likes regular V8 she may find that relieves the charlie horses quickly.

She must have a lot of stamina to devote so much of her energy to commuting-that IS hard! I was a little over a week without my car, while I drove our son's and my husband drove mine (musical cars) and I was so relieved last week when he replaced his SUV and I inherited my car back again. And he even took it in and had it detailed (inside and out) for me. You'll just have to make lists for the days that you will be together so that you can do your errands and not be forgetting anything.

I think that this is the only problem not having your own car. You feel you need to go out exactly when the car is not available.

I'd be lost without my car. Hopefully, your daughter can get one of her own soon. We have three cars for just the two of us, and have often loaned one out to our new daughter-in-law. My son is going to buy her a new car once they settle into the house.
