This is another reason why you should always check your email.

I have to get into the habit of checking my email daily. I usually check it weekly and sometimes have gone two weeks without checking it. I get an email from paypal about something being withdrawn from my bank account. I immediately went to paypal to dispute it. Yes it was legitimate but the company did not inform me of the pending withdrawal. It is a yearly subscription that automatically renews and I had forgotten all about it. I was not given any notice and so I have disputed it. I could not find how to get to any automatic withdrawal subscription through paypal so I disputed it and required an immediate refund. I also requested they cancel my recurring payments. I shot the company in question an email as well alerting them to the actions I had taken and requesting they assist paypal immediately. I expressed my irritation that I was not given notice that this would occur. I suggested they alert their customers of pending renewals and also expressed my intentions of canceling their paid services. Paypal has since canceled recurring payments but has not taken action to refund the money yet. It hasn't withdrawn from my bank account and their is no pending status in my bank. I think I have caught it in time. However, when I tried to call paypal directly to inquire about this there was no one I could speak to. This irks me a bit as well but as it was after hours maybe it was an automated service. Anyway, my advice to everyone is to check your email and also get on top of things like this instantly!

The last time I had to dispute something with paypal I had to send an email in a request ticket and it took about a wk before I heard back from them but they gave me the refund. Hope they don't take it from your acct.

I hope not either. I know it would bounce if they took it from my account. I plan to deposit money in the bank in a few days but then I don't want them taking from that either, even if it will be refunded. Years ago I was able to talk to paypal on the phone. I will try to call again in the morning. I know I can call my bank and probably have them put a block on that amount coming from paypal but it might interfere with future paypal deposits. Since I get paid via paypal.. well that would be a hindrance.

@ScribbledAdNauseum I thought I had talked to them once before as well but when I tried this last time there was no number. Hope you get it all straightened out and get your money back if they take it. I don't think they would pay it if you didn't have the money would they?

@cintol I did find a number but it was an automated type. I am getting my money refunded. It was set up as a subscription withdrawal through paypal on an annual basis. I couldn't even find the page that shows these type set ups. They did overdraft my bank account. I had $30.00 in paypal that I had withdrawn to my bank just the day before and so I had $36.00 in the bank. It bounced my account for around $10.00 when all was said and done.

I need to create a work email for myself. I haven't yet. I need to also remember to check my email. I am trying to get into the habit of checking it first thing in the morning and again in the evening. I only check paypal weekly.

I have to make it a habit to check every day now. I've gone weeks without checking it and ended up with 1000 emails.

I hate when things automatically renew like that. Norton antivirus does it. I have it turned off to not renew automatically but it still does. It renews 15 days before it's even due to renew and the rate is high. I was furious the first time it happened and made them refund my money. They gave me an extra two years free for the hassle!

Lucky You. I am going to disable and uninstall Webroot (which is the company) and then that should be that. I am having the money refunded to me. I will just have to search around for what I need elsewhere. $42 nearly $43.00 and I only had $35.00 in my account.

I had an issue with paypal too but everything turned out fine. they resolved my dispute in a manner favorable for me.

I didn't get my dispute resolved. I think it might have been the category I listed it under. They did remove me from the autpmatic withdrawals. I don't know how to get to that page and I need to contact them to advise them to make that particular page more obvious. I had to contact my bank to further dispute the matter.

I have a main e-mail address that I always check and it is syncronized to my phone. But I don't check my other e-mail addresses too often.

I used to synchronize my email to my phone but it drains the battery so fast that way.

@ScribbledAdNauseum It is true. My biggest problem with the battery was the games. Now I have no game on my phone and my battery lasts long.

Checking emails once daily should be the norm. Don't check emails more frequently than that as that would hamper your performance.

I don't think checking emails more frequently would hamper my performance. I intend to check my emails twice daily. It only takes me a few minutes.
