Note : The company type was changed for the real company so not to call anyone out that was involved in this betrayal. She had always wanted her own restaurant and now she was going for it. She is fighting for her place in this world, she had wanted to do something to help more than just make money, but having a place of her own was exciting. She shared with friends about what she had planned, although she kept it to herself a big part about who, where and when. Several pushed her forward waiting for the dream to come true, she could finally have a career change, something she has been working toward for 4 years because the jobs she worked daily were wearing her down. One friend became a little closer, making a few suggestions here and there. Although she worked alone, she also tested her products on herself, and then asked a family member to test a few. Tweeting the recipes as she went, throwing away what did not work. Okay! all was good so it was forward from now on out. Her birthday came but she was not one to need gifts or a party, dinner after work was more than enough and since she was actually working 2 jobs the new place would make the 3rd. for months to come. Just a couple months before she planned to open up the store, "the friend" walked up and down the sidewalks of the small town handing out recipes that she was putting on the menu. On the top of the free pamphlet was printed " Why buy this dish in a restaurant when you can make your own!" She was just crushed, the person she called a friend was not a friend at all, and to add salt to her wound that so called friend did it on her birthday, making sure to steal every drop of her joy. Although her feeling were hurt badly, she brushed it off and went back to work on her restaurant. Even as she had shared "some" of what the place would offer, she kept the biggest and the best to herself, the new recipes that are not to be found online anywhere. "So bye bye" she said to herself, adding "You did teach me one thing I had forgotten and that is enemies are closer than friends." She received a message from that friend after she had done what she had, saying " I am sorry you got upset but people have been wanting to make this at home for a long time." She shook her head........ and walked away.

Not a friend at all. However my answer to why buy at a restaurant is so I do not do dishes or get hot over the stove and if I goof up, well it is out of my pocket if I am doing it at home. I do think the friend did a lot to steal her thunder.

What a rotten thing to do. Who knows, maybe it will backfire. People go to the restaurant for many different reasons and one is that they want to enjoy an evening out and relax and let someone else do the cooking and the cleaning up after. I wish your friend success!

That person was not a friend at all. No friend would do that.

There are many reasons why anyone would visit a new restaurant. Relaxation and ease of mind that the work was being done by someone else-a professional. And a bit of a treat also, just like the birthday dinner. So, thieves may try to rob the recipe, but they cannot totally destroy the dream, as there will always be followers and believers, and those of us wanting to eat out and be totally taken care of in a good way.

Glad the best was still secret. I go out to eat to keep from having the mess a lot of times. So having the recipe would not matter to me anyhow.

What the friend did was bad, but the woman was a bit careless and naive to post her recipes. So my sympathy is limited.

Yes you are right, don`t trust anyone. I also see what comes around goes around because that so called friend is getting it back, as I write this, of coarse by another thief.

Bummer! It's often hard to tell who your true friends are.
