Starting Something New

I have a book I'm trying to get finished and ready to publish. It's going well. I have about 200 pages left of Thread of Evidence and then a final read through just to make certain all the necessary changes I made make sense.
About a month ago a line of Scripture started threading it's way through my mind, and I knew it was the first line for a new book, but all I had was the line, until yesterday. Yesterday, I took that line and put it on a blank Word document, and before I knew it, I had two pages and over 500 words. I wrote a couple more pages when I got home from church, and now am a few words shy of 1000 or a little over, if I continued writing after I saw that total.
I know some of you might be wondering why I am starting a new book when I have several others I've also started in the last several months. It's what I do. It isn't because I'm bored with those other books. Far from it. All those books will be finished, along with all the others I have started in my documents. I just can't ignore what is going on in my brain, and I need to get it down. Also, I knew it was a definite go for a book because the thought never went away. So, it was time to write.
This one has a very different opening. I don't know where I'm going with it yet being only four pages into the book. I don't know the genre yet, but I will before the first chapter is finished, maybe. By then, I hope I know where the book is going as well.
This makes the third book I've started since last November. Or is it the fourth? I'm going to need to check on that. I usually write everything on my white board, and I'm only seeing two books I've just started. Either that, or it was another I was also working on that also needs to be finished. I have plenty of those. Now, I've just added another. This one is called Secret Place.
Have you started anything new? Do you finish one thing before starting another, or do you have many projects in the fire as you continue to work on those nearing completion?
Thanks for reading. Enjoy a sculpture from the Botanical Gardens. This is not made out of Lego's.

That can be a problem. Thankfully, I only have one rattling around at a time, though I tend to work on several of them at once. As my white board is so good at showing me.

That's amazing how that line of Scripture inspired you so.
I totally get it. You need to go with what is motivating you when the inspiration is there

@FayeHazel Thank you. It's good to have something to work on, though I also have two others I started this past year.

Just keep writing. It's good to have multiple projects going at once. I tend to do this at times too, and sometimes it is helpful because if something begins to fizzle, you always can return to it, or have something else to work on until the mind if fresh on the old idea again.

@just4him Keep at it. You never know when you hit just the right book at just the right time. I think for any writer part of the dream, besides writing a best seller, is having someone come knocking on the door wanting to option the rights to make a film.

Wow! You can work a lot, that's for sure. How many books have you written? And what's the main genre? I was thinking about writing too, but I have no time at all, not for this at least.
When I was drawing, I usually started working on one piece, then jump to another before finishing the first. I finish them all, but I do have a few unfinished pieces because I had to stop suddenly. My priorities changed at some point .

@Kasjnak Thank you. I hope for success as well.
I get e-mails from a well-known author who gives webinars, one is tonight. He too has said more than once that if you want to succeed with your dreams, you will find a way to make them happen.

@just4him . You know, I'm a very lazy person, but I battle this demon of mine every day. Sometimes I win, sometimes I don't, but I try.
And then I meet someone like you that amazes me with their will and working power. I always say that I have no time for drawing, but the truth is I need only 5 minutes to sketch something on paper.
My congratulations to you, I hope you finish them all and more than that. I hope many of your books will get published and you'll be very successful.

I imagine once the idea gets you have no choice but to start writing even though you have other projects on the go. I do the same with many of my activities

Yes, I do have a lot of ideas and books I can work on. I rarely suffer from writer's block. When I do, I just work on something else.

It will probably take the rest of my life to complete all of them, but I'm certainly going to do my best.

It all depends on my mood if I get things finished or move onto something else. Congrats on starting another book, I'm glad you're doing something you enjoy. =)

I have been busy downloading my photos to the iCloud but it has reminded me that I have lots more articles to write.

Love that sculpture. I too need to finish one project before I start another. I am now considering two projects just do not know which is best to begin. Early this year with the help of a company I managed to publish my first book of poems which is now on Amazon. Now I am considering perhaps creating another book with just love poems or writing a book about my life from a human interest kind of point about all I have gone through and then finally returning home to the US but then I think who will read it? There is one final possibility and that is a book of horror stories. I have some accumulated and saved. Good luck with your books.

I'm a composer and I usually have several compositions going. Sometimes I finish quickly and sometimes it takes me a while to get back to certain compositions. I need to do some handbell arrangements for Christmas and get them up on my store.

That sounds like fun. How long does it take to do a typical composition? Or like me with several projects going at once, it's hard to know how long one takes?
