Naval Kishore Singh is an Indian from Jamshedpur city of Jharkhand state is an Ex – Electrical Engineer working for Tata Iron and steel Company, having a Deadly Snakes Farm of his own! After retirement today he is a professional snake catcher, who helps people to get rid of snakes that enter their houses, offices, premises and vehicles which he does it for free of cost. He leaves the non-poisonous snakes a jungles and he leaves the poisonous snakes in his three acres Snakes farm at a place Kutchai in Orissa state, where he is having 35,000 poisonous snakes in it. What he does with these snakes? He extracts venom from them and sells it to the Christian Medical College, Vellore where the Anti-Venom is prepared from this product which is the only treatment to save a life in case of a snake bite. To harvest an ounce of Venom it requires 800 cobras and each ounce fetches him about 11 lakhs of Indian rupees. According to him he spends about 2.5 lakhs of Indian rupees per month to look after these snakes as these snakes with the help of 45 local boys. The snakes only consume prawns that too once in a month. Mr. Singh’s Snakes yield about 30 to 32 Ounces of Venom every year. He is having a valid Licence to hunt wild snakes for Forest Department; he never catches snakes from private localities unless it enters a house or a premises. He is 71 years old and looks like a man of 40 years old, when asked about his fitness he says that he keeps himself happy and eats very less. I sincerely appreciate his unbelievable courage and his unique concept of snake farming and harvesting the snake venom to save the lives of people at the risk of his own life. What do you think about this man? Kindly respond! Your responses will be highly appreciated as usual!! Thanks!

I really appreciate his courage to catch snakes. I always felt odd on people who are catching snakes. Till this time I heard people who are living with snakes as hobby and getting fame, first time I heard a person who runs a profession

In southern part of India we have a tribal community known as 'Irula' who ear livelylihood by catching the snakes. Previously these people used to sell snakes for the skins. Now after banning by Government, today they harvest the Venom and supply it to government. In fact they have a Co-operative Society which helps in smooth functioning!

@Sreekala , That is very true ! Today those people are engaged into the job of catching snakes and getting them to the Office of the Co-Operative society where they extract venom from them and they leave back the snake after noting the identification number they have on them which is attached by tthe Society to catch them after a month or so!

Snake antidote has to be one of the best things around. Around where I was living there were very deadly small snakes and the antidote was a few miles out of there. So I was always careful to walk on the paths instead of the grass just in case. He is doing a great job anyway and we also have our own snake catcher a Spanish guy that does all kind of crazy things and rescues snakes that have gotten into people´s houses and have not known how to get out again.

Since this anti-venom is very important in saving lives, I am glad that he loves his work as I don't want that job. If he is 71 and looks like 40 then I am very interested inj his diet. Can you share more of what he eats?

That's cool. My step-father used to catch snakes and give to me. I never got to keep them though because my grandmother won't let me have them. I don't know if they were poisonous though.
