'Viral' Computer-Trouble: Pop-ups from an Ad-Network

I /would/ report this more-privately to @GoAskAlice; but I've noticed it in other places, so I'm thinking it might (also) be 'something on MY computer.' What'll happen: if I open a website with my AdGuard AdBlocker off (as I've done on Pizza Hut's site, 'TuneIn' (the free radio site), and here on myLot so-far), a bunch of ads will pop-up and will even pop-up 'in a new window' every time I click ANYWHERE (even 'to place the cursor in a text-box to type')! The addresses in the pop-up windows are too random for me to remember, but most of the ads (on the original sites, before anything popped up) were from "Counterflix." Should webmasters be wary of 'Counterflix'-agents "bearing gifts" (i.e. promising 'big money' if you'll let their virus touch you )? ... sharing this post, I found the Virus Removal Guide ... I know the program you can download from that link 'looks like' it's just there to sell the AdWare Removing function (something like $30 ... which I imagine gets you FREE UPDATES FOR LIFE); but the adware-finder is FREE, and--if you've got all the time in the world--you can 'run it (for about half an hour), write down the most-dangerous files, close it, erase those files, run it again, etc.' ...
