The scan...

The scan I had today wasn't quite what I expected : mainly because I thought from the papers I had to fill out that I was going to have to get an IV bag of contrast dye dripped into me (which, when I was a kid, always made me feel like I was going to throw up). Instead, the technician (who was really nice) injected me with a little bit of "nuclear material" and I went in to do the scan. That consisted of my lying down and taking it easy for about 45 minutes--which I certainly didn't mind. I wished I could have fallen asleep, due to my lack of sleep last night, but it didn't work out. After it was over, the tech told me to drink a lot of fluids today to wash the nuclear stuff out of me. I've been trying to do that. He also said they should have the results to my regular doctor by tomorrow sometime. So, I'll see what happens.

Are you radioactive now? Hehe. Maybe not. I'm just wondering about this 'nuclear' thing. Did they tell you more about what it is?

Well, no one has complained of getting sick around me and I haven't developed any super powers or anything (kind of a bummer about that last one...) From what I understood, the "nuclear" part was the stuff they injected into me to help see what they wanted to see.

that sounds like a pleasant visit. Too bad you couldn't take a quick nap though

It really wasn't that bad. It's not quite over--I recently talked to the last ER doctor I saw, and she said to (or maybe it was in the latest stack of papers they gave me) that I need to talk to my regular doctor about referring me to have my gall bladder removed.

Crossing my fingers for you that the results are clear! I would have been a nervous wreck.

Lord willing, they will be. I've had so many different scans done on me throughout my life (CT and MRI) that for me it was kind of "here we go again".

Hope everything comes back good. And that you sleep better tonight.
