The steep path less traveled

My eyes were fixed on the biggest reclining Buddha I’ve ever seen I didn’t notice the little fingers covering mine. When I looked down, a pair of smiling eyes greeted me. Children normally stare at you, right? Like they know your deepest secrets, making you feel uncomfortable. But this cute little toddler smiled his china eyes at me, stealing my attention away from the heart-stopping view. On the other side, he was holding his father’s hand as we traversed the steep path together. The father, who carried all the baby essentials on his huge backpack complete with baby stickers, started to mutter some excuses. But I didn’t mind. Maybe the child couldn’t balance himself and needed my help. No worries. Not a big deal at all. Though I wondered about two things when I said goodbye to the little boy. Where’s his mom? And who holds my children’s hands when their paths are steep?
Photo is mine.

Just thinking that there are compassionate people in the world who are willing to hold the hand of anyone in need gives a sense of relief. It tells me that though others may have their own problems they are still willing to help someone in need. (I am sure if your children needed help, someone would reach out to help them, just as you helped this smiling child... You are a wonderful person!)
BTW, you may have gotten a tiny bit of your breakfast on your face before you took your photo. *I'm just being a friend and holding your hand right now.*

though you covered your face with that heart-shaped sunny side up, i still imagine you smiling, and your well-chiseled eyebrows proudly saying you are a great personality.
i hope the reclining Buddha will not have a stiff neck if she lies down for too long there. hahaha

@sol_cee well, now, thick brows are better than no eyebrows at all. that way too, the sweat falling from your forehead, will be halted with the thick brows that you have

Children are like that. They are so amiable even to people they don't know. And when they do something like that to anyone, we cannot refuse because they are just little kids who longs attention.
Maybe the kid has no mother anymore, and he imagine you as her mother so he held you on his other hand while the other one holds his father's hand too.

@sol_cee We have a big reclining Buddha statue here in our city. It is relatively new, just having been created a few years ago. Not sure what the purpose of it is though, but the Buddhist place where it's at has a bunch of giant statues. It's located in a remote outlying area of our city, where the statues are intermittently dispersed throughout a wooded compound.

1. the little boy's mom is up there already, at the top, with the grandma!!! (the toilet is there somewhere I bet!)
2. Your children are NOT travelling any steep paths without you around, so don't you worry (they are just not allowed to do so!) .
Thought Buddha was always dozing off while in mediation (sitting on the Lotus or something similar), never heard of Buddha reclining like that ever. I am real shocked seeing this pic!!! (How could HE??? )

I am sure that that little boy knew that you would be a good hand to hold, kids are very intuitive.

It may have been a father and child thing and mom staying back with a new baby....Whatever ,I understand how heartwarming it is when a child gives you his trust.
Our love and prayers engulf our kids when we are not there physically.
Take care.
The Buddha statue is very nice...And his teachings do meaningful
