Have you hold a caterpillar in your life?

No, I haven't. I am scared to touch it. However, my cousin and my nieces love touching it. They even let it walked on their arms and hair. Yikes. Would you dare to hold it if you have any chance?
Yesterday, when I was trimming my huge Mussaenda Dona Cory plant, I saw this insect just hiding in one of the leaves of the branch that I have trimmed. I called my cousin and she was happy seeing it. She got it off from the leaf and hold it as if it was just a toy. She said that it will ruin the leaves of my plant. I didn't have the courage to kill it. Instead I let it back to my mussaenda plant after hubby said it would become a huge moth or a butterfly.
When my nieces came home from school, they were happy seeing and touching it before I let the caterpillar return to my plant. I don't mind if the leaves will be consumed by the caterpillar. I want to see this become a moth or a butterfly flying around my garden.
Today, the caterpillar is still there in my Mussaenda but a bit bigger now. I wonder if it will become a moth or a butterfly.
Any butterfly/moth experts here?

I do not touch it too; just admire the beautiful big blue eyes! It will transform into a butterfly!

@thelme55 they are voracious eaters! I suspect it is the one who ate the flower buds of my orchids!

So do I. The caterpillar is gone @acelawrites. I wonder where it is now. It is no longer in the Dona Cory plant.

I have never raised a caterpillar, and I feel scared to see it.

The first time I know that I have caterpillar in my garden @caopaopao. I am not scared seeing it but scared when my nieces tried to put it on my skin. They said, it is a soft feeling and nice.

i like how a caterpillar feels, it is soft. in fact, i even play with it but i don't hurt it. i want to see the caterpillar go to its pupal stage until it emerges as a butterfly.
but i am afraid of earthworms.

Oh when I was a child I got to learn how to hold it those soft and mushy to feel. They do not pose any threat to us since they are designed to just much as many leaf before they finally go to hibernation to become a butterfly. My grandad usually kills them since they looked like they are a pest on his ornamental plants. I would usually get one alive and play with it. But there are other caterpillars that are really hazardous. Those are the ones that have spikes or hair like things on their body. If you happen to get those in your body you will get rashes all over you body and the only cure for that is to put some salt on it and avoid scratching them so it won't spread from your body.

What an incredible photo you've captured of it. I hope you have the pleasure of seeing it spin its cocoon and hatch into a beautiful butterfly.
