Thanks to those of you who have sent prayers and hugs to me. I’m here to update you on our horrors of the last two weeks.
The surgeon saw our Ice Princess and all six broken bones in her ankle healed perfectly. She’s back on the ice regaining her axels, but building her leg strength up, too.
Doodles, the cat, had his echocardiogram. He didn’t lose an ounce of weight, but one of his valves has gotten a bit smaller. That’s good. He still has a few other problems, and is now on diuretics to help eliminate the extra fluids he has in his heart.
My brother, who has been in the hospital in ICU, has made a dramatic recovery. We were with him today as he got ready to be moved to a rehabilitation facility. The doctors think one or two weeks should do it. Great news.
However, all news can’t be good, and unfortunately, little Kuma (in the photo I took last night) has the worst. She has a rare, aggressive form of cancer. All we can do is make her comfortable and pain free. Right now, she is still her happy, innocent little self.

I'm sending you hugs for all the sadness. Years ago my hubby slipped on some ice and in that second, both the leg bones down toward the ankle snapped. The docs worried about the blood supply to his foot but he got to go home from the hospital after a day. The ankle will never be normal but perhaps your princess, being so young, will fare much better. More hugs for you from me!

I'm so sorry to hear about your husband's ankle. Yikes! The Ice Princess was very lucky and followed doctor's orders to some extent. She is fine now and back to her ice routine. I truly appreciate all the hugs. Life here has had its ups and downs.

@sallypup Yikes! I don't need to hear that! Ouch!!!!!
Her surgeon gave the ok, and she is back to normal on the ice. Today she did her 42nd practice in 2 weeks. Her coach told her that her routine was back to perfect - technically. Thank goodness.

Grateful for all the good news and my heart goes out to y'all for little Kuma's sake. I know from sad experience how hard it is to see a beloved furry family member going down that road and know there's nothing you can do to stop them. All you can do is make them as comfortable as possible and shower them with love and attention.

You made me cry with your kind and thoughtful words. I was about to answer you when our son came by to visit his kitties. He is the one I'm worried about. He is so upset about both cats and his uncle.
We are still here, and the move to Florida will only be a 2+ hour flight away. When we go. No, we didn't get the 1 bedroom in NYC. It's a good thing, considering we are paying all the vet bills and buying furniture for our son as part of his new house gift.
Thank you!

I am sad for Kuma. Poor kitty. I know what it's like to have a cat suffering from cancer. Wow, she's back on the ice already.

Good to see that many things have improved but I feel bad for poor Kuma. I hope that she doesn't suffer too much.

What I admire about cats is that when they're ill they really don't show those symptoms. I know you are doing your best for making Kuma really feel better.
I'm happy to hear the news about. your brother, your granddaughter and Doodles.

@DianneN Symptoms show only when the illness is at their worst. It's easier to see the symptoms on dogs than in cats.

@SIMPLYD It will only grow back. My son wants to spare her from that and all the rides in the car for chemo 3 times a week and then rounds of radiation, which the surgeon doesn't think will help. Kuma is afraid of being in the car and cries, wets, and vomits. It would be too traumatic for her.

I am so glad about your brother, one of my brothers has the French version of your brother's name. When I put it on the prayer line one of my friends texted me and wanted to know if it was my brother.

In happy to hear that Ice Princess is all mended up and ready to get back on the ice:) Your brother, on my gosh I had no idea he was in the ICU, yet he's getting better which is beautiful news! Kuma, my heart just sank into my stomach, this is terrible and thank God, there are medications to keep her pain free:( I pray for you, every single day, God loves you Dianne and so do I!

Thank you! I'm crying now from your sweet words. Our older son just called to firm up plans for Sunday. He's coming in for a visit with the crew and to see our younger son's new house. He mentioned that the coach told my granddaughter after her 40th practice in the 2 weeks she's been home from camp, that she's back to her old self on the ice now. Thank goodness for that. Thank goodness for everything, except for our poor little Kuma. We are all taking this so hard, as you can imagine. I truly appreciate your prayers. Please keep them coming!

That is awesome news! I'm glad your brother is in a rehab and doing much better. I know that was your main concern. Good to hear about the Ice Princess. I'm glad those bones healed clean. Thumbs up for Doodles too. I'm sorry about Kuma. I'm glad she's still happy and innocent.

@DianneN Thats good, we had our pup put to sleep in our arms as well so he wouldn't be alone.
Glad to hear she is already up and skating away, I am sure she will be back on track in no time, tell your son it will all be worth it in the end.
