A Student SHOUTED at ME: Whoah!?!

It was really a moment of truth between me and my online student tonight. The company's software is totally down and it affects the classes online. The audio and video are working crazy during the class. This particular student shouted at me with full blast.lol Well, I am cool as a cucumber. He claimed that I have a problem with my Internet connection. In fact. it wasn't the case. For the reason that I am using a wired connection and it is not WiFi. I had tried my best to explain the situation, but he keeps shouting at me. His father is to the rescue. Since he can't get the main problem. I finally instructed him to call the customer service to verify it. And, I stopped explaining my side. "Are you patient enough to handle this student?" Image Credit: nancyjrose.com

You can have problems also with a wired connection you know? We have a wired connection and last week we were not getting the speed we pay for.

I do agree with you. There is no perfect connection. To make myself clear with such an accusation, I had checked my speed and it is more than the required. We usually have to document things up by having snapshots.

@LadyDuck I had upgraded 2 years ago. For the reason that I will not be who is having the problem with these online students. Most of them are using WiFi and it is likely that they will experience technical problems.

@Shavkat WiFi always causes problems, people who complain when they get errors on myLot are all using their phones and the WiFi. I never get errors with my cable connection and the desktop.

I agree. I think I will do the same thing. Sometimes I randomly close the software during the class session.

@ridingbet I do agree on that. Instead of making myself stressed out, I make the lessons harder. So that they can see their weaknesses.

@Shavkat it is not always us who should adjust to the attitude of our students; they should also adjust to us.

Oh that’s the risk of those using online courses. You’ll never know where the problem lies. Hopefully he could be assisted in finally solving his or your problem. I think I can understand why the frustration because he paid for that and he’s receiving not so good service. But it’s not your fault and I don’t agree to his behavior being rude to you. He may rant at customer service but not at you because you are just delivering it the best you could.

@Shavkat well being online teachet has its advantages too. It’s much easier to brush them off than with a regular school setting where you are face to face with your students.

As it should be. But these online students cannot understand the situation. Even if they knew the problem is, they just brushed off the real facts. This is not the only worst case. I had experienced shouting by a student for almost an hour. I just look at her and pretend she doesn't exist. Besides, I am being paid even she acted this way.

@rsa101 I do agree with you. I am well-adjusted to these naughty students. I just need to deal with the company's admin's flaws.

@cherriefic I do agree on that. I learned how to calm myself as much as possible. But, if it is not acceptable, I just need to unleash my bad side without limit.

I had experienced such people through the phone, too.lol They have the chance to pull me down. For this company, I need to ignore sometimes. It is because of working with them.

I am still human that sometimes get mad. To withstand such student's behavior, I need to have enough sleep. I personally think that's the greatest secret.

When I started teaching with this company, I am what you are supposed to react at first. Then, I suddenly felt immune.

There is no problem at my side, my friend. I hope this student will not book one of my classes online. What a spoiled brat and full of himself at a young age.
