The Things That Used To Be So Easy To Do Are Now Getting More Difficult

Have you ever noticed that things you used to be able to do without much thought or exertion have become more difficult? On my "to do" list for today is to clean the half bath I have on the first floor. It's a decent size but not huge. I used to be able to go in there and have it sparkling in no time. Now I have to divide it up into different tasks. First it's harder to get behind the toilet and clean. Why are toilets so close to the wall (not in the back but on one side). Bending and getting in such a tight space is more difficult. I also have a pedestal sink and bending and cleaning leaves me with a head rush. Once that's done I have to rest before I can go back and mop the floor. I miss those days when I could zip through the house and get it all cleaned in one day. I'm seriously thinking I might need to hire someone to come in and do the bathrooms and all the floors. It's getting to be a little too much for me. Getting old isn't much fun

I have to take those breaks also. Just standing at the sink doing dishes takes alot out of me.

It's sad isn't it. Some days I just wish I could go back in time and enjoy being able to bend and squat and kneel down

I do a little every day so it doesn't build up to a huge task. Some days it's still difficult

@Marilynda1225 I break mine up too that's why it takes me weeks to get things spiffy since I work two jobs.

I can relate. Even kneeling in church for Communion is difficult now.

I was never fond of being on hands and knees but I do remember the days when that's how I scrubbed my floors

@Marilynda1225 I used to clean for people a little in my younger years. One lady was excited she could again get her kitchen floor done with me on my hands and knees.i had to laugh because even though I could clean it from that level I did it while sitting on my butt and moving around that way. (I wanted to use a word I use and had to check the spelling but mylot wouldn't post as it thought the word was wrong. Sc ooching)

I have that problem with the toilet. That space between the toilet, wall, and tub, is so hard to get to.

Sadly, I could do about anything I wanted to do, if I wanted to do it.

Yup. We say "old age is not for sissies." I'm not very flesible due to the hardware that's now in my back, and now my knees are shot. I find myself lying down between chores too, or resting.

My knees are totally shot too. I feel bad that you have to rest between chores but happy I'm not the only one

I can't get on my knees anymore so doing around the toilet it's quite a chore for me too. I'm thinking of switching to a top fully design because it looks like those done have the same type of surfaces that collect first and dirt. Although, I've not checked yet but I'm guessing they may cost a lot more.

That’s why I have a cleaning lady. She does it all and more. I just tidy up when needed between her weekly visits. My mother was so lucky to have live-in help.

Oh this could be my story. More and more things are becoming next to impossible. It's very depressing.

Age does creep up on us but soon it starts to dictate. I have seen some suddenly becoming dependent on others for their basic needs. I want to stay independent as long as I can - siva
