What did you have for breakfast this morning?

The other day, my friend and I went hiking. Prior to that, we stopped at one of the last "ma and pa" restaurants in the area and had a "real" breakfast. Mine was a ham, cheese and spinach omelette, with hash browns and English muffin on the side. My buddy also had an omelette. This morning, I'm back to having a "weird" breakfast, meaning whatever I have lying around that goes well with coffee. Right now I'm on my second cup of coffee, and I'm slowly munching away at a Safeway chocolate cupcake that my young neighbor friend's mom brought to me. I figure that carbs are carbs, whether they're sweet or not. What did you have for breakfast this morning? Do you sometimes "graze and rationalize," like I do? Have you had a "traditional" breakfast recently? I'm aware that "traditional" varies by country.

I tend to eat traditional breakfasts. I wouldn't feel right about eating a cupcake. I had a bowl of cereal with half a banana and a bit of V8 fruit type drink. The cereal might not be much better but at least I had fruit and milk.

@TheHorse Well I will sometimes have a doughnut or bagel..and they are not that much different than a cupcake, however, they are in the "breakfast food arena."

@snowy22315 Exactly! Cute little carbon and hydrogen atoms going into our tummies.

That's the funny thing (to me). If I had cereal (which I often do), I'd put maple syrup or brown sugar on it. So I'd wind up with some good carbs, a touch of sugar, and some milk (there's milk in my coffee). It's not THAT different from having a cupcake with coffee and milk. But it "feels" more right somehow.

I have a traditional "European" breakfast every morning, that means toasted bread and jam, a yogurt, sometimes a fruit.

@TheHorse Never in Italy or France, in the North of Switzerland I think their breakfast may include sliced cheese and meats, not here in the south.

@LadyDuck Interesting. I think we may have had some thin sliced meats in Austria, but I can't remember for sure.

@TheHorse I have eaten cake before for breakfast. The choclate cupcake looks very good. I hope you enjoyed it. It is nice to have a nice home cooked breakfast. I like my breakfast. I had kelloggs with milk, chocolate spread and peanut butter on a spoon and hot chocolate. It was good. That is my breakfast in summer.

Both sound good to me! I should do more with potatoes. But if you give a moose a baked potato, he's going to want steak with it. Hmm.

I feel like as long at you are eating in the morning, it doesn't matter what it is, because breakfast is so important. I normally get cereal or a bagel and some fruit. I cannot have a traditional breakfast since I'm allergic to eggs, but! We did have some pancakes and bacon for dinner a few nights ago haha

@DesirousDreamer Dangerous in what way?
• Peoria, Arizona
13 Sep 18
@TheHorse It doesn't have to. Any time I made it, it is just flour and vanilla and such. And it isn't an aggressive allergy when the egg is mixed into things, I just get an itchy throat. When it is like an omelet or just a full on egg that is when it is dangerous.
