We Have Idiots on Parade

I am sorry, but these are idiots. Every single time I watch "hurricane coverage," I think to myself, why not give us something WORTH our time? Instead we get guys holding onto poles, chains, and whatever else, standing (or trying to) in strong winds.
They look like fools, they tell us nothing new, and they just seem to be trying to get the best shot of them withstanding the winds and the torrential rains pelting them.
"Look at me, I am standing in water." "Look at me, I am withstanding 100 MPH winds." "Look at me, I am avoiding this tree being sent through the air by the winds."
It becomes comical. In fact, it IS comical. I spend more time laughing watching this sort of thing than actually finding myself concerned for any REAL people caught in this sort of thing.

@porwest Yes, and you know in Hongkong, people were caught really flying, because of the strong wind and rain brought by typhoon Mangkhut.

That is true since some people lost their common sense many years ago. Rule of life is do not gamble battling Mother Nature. You will lose.

I do find it funny also, and wonder why they are in the middle of it and not safe from it. We can see from the map there's a storm out there. We have people here who give us updates on the storm. We don't need to watch the idiots stand in the middle of the storm.

The YouTube channel I watch shows damaged properties, violent winds (without reporters in the midst), people (volunteers) helping, first responders working tirelessly rescuing people, news alerts safety compliance
So, far, I'm relieved to see these from this channel.

I am in total agreement! I actually saw a reporter standing in the storm on a street like he was going to be blown away any minute while in the background 2 people were walking casually behind him. It was comical. Would have been more practical to show it on America's Funniest Videos

So, you don't think that they are giving us an idea of what is happening so that we can understand what our fellow humans are going through? What do you think they should be doing?

Oh, I totally agree. In fact, my brother texted me last night after watching some coverage and said, "I'd like to take these people and slap the living (poop) out of them."
I don't have cable, so I haven't had the, ahem, "pleasure" of watching the coverage (which amounts to this: "It's raining really hard here! Back to you in the studio!" "The wind has really picked up! Back to you in the studio!" "The water in the street is up to my ankles! Back to you in the studio!"). Instead, I've been watching the LOCAL coverage from a Wilmington TV station online. Infinitely better coverage.
