Internet Returned After Three Days

At last, after three days of ranting and complaining to the service provider, we now have an internet service today! So I was absent for some days on myLot and returned only now. We were not affected by the strong typhoon, but we did not know why internet and telephone signals also went off since last Friday. It is hard when there's no internet; I was "left out" of what's happening around, although we still have texting service through cellphones. Mobile internet is so slow, and not so reliable. Do you also also experienced losing internet signal for so long?

Two things also affected my mylotting activity. 1. No electricity that our mobile phones have no life. 2. The globe signal also been on and off.

That's the reason why we shifted to PLDT, but still it seems they have some internal problems too.

I'm also considering switching from Globe to PLDT

@ilocosboy and good news, if ever, there will be the third telco which will break the monopoly of the two telco giants in our country.

I'm happy that you weren't affected by the typhoon. We were without internet, TV, and phones last month for 3 days when a tree knocked down our cable wires. It was awful!!!!

@acelawrites No hurricane here. A huge branch fell from a huge tree. I was so happy we had our cell phones and electricity for the house, but it was still awful with no TV or internet.

So you were also affected by a hurricane in your area? It is really hard to feel "separated" when there are no communication lines.

It shows the inefficiency of the telephone companies here.

I'm glad you back on the internet now. We get to rely quite heavily on it, don't we? I hate it when it goes down for any reason.

Yes, and for that, I lose my job. That sucks, you know. It was almost 3 weeks. My provider said they will give me a discount for the time I didn't have internet. But when I check my account, no discount. I'm done with them calling so I leave it.

It is true; even jobs can be affected; even business and social relationships. I hope you can still find other jobs.

@acelawrites my previous ISP was as you described, that person delayed correcting even small problem. That's why we changed, now it is better. The customer care people talk nicely and promise only what they can deliver

Oh that is really bad that after 3 day you were left out from the rest of us. Internet has become an important part of our lives already. When it is out we tend to become left out and not being able to enjoy life. Did they tell you why it took them 3 days to restore the service there must be a serious problem in your area since many of us didn't experience any interruption. Although I do notice that during the typhoon, the signal was a bit slow and there are times it goes off for a short while.

They did not tell how long it would take them to repair it; so we had to go to their office for follow-ups and endure lining up for so long.

Yes, when a strong typhoon hits us. That happens. We don't have electricity and internet for days. Good thing, at the mall the compnay where I work owns has its own substation. So, we can use the internet while there. Are you in Manila? Were you directly hit by Ompong.

Yes, they free internet at the mall (SM), but it is too slow! I loaded my phone so I can have a signal and send an important message to a relative abroad. We are not in Manila and we were not affected by typhoon Ompong.

Oh no! And where is your location? We were not that affected also except for the heavy gusty wind and some rains on Saturday early morning but the power went out for 12 hours here. It is good to know you are good. I am still awaiting for our other kabayans here to be online again.

We were not affected by the storm; we are in Southern Tagalog region; but I didn't know why PLDT in our area had that damage.

Good to see you back acela-san. You didn't have Internet for three days- does it mean you'll have lower Internet bill?

Yes, just like the other day, when we have experienced the wrath of the supertyphoon Mangkhut. We were not directly hit but we have experienced nonstop rains accompanied by strong winds from 2:00 AM to 8:00 AM. The power was cut off during those time, including the internet connection. It was a night of terror.
