It's With My Editor Now

This morning before work I dropped off the manuscript for Storm Damage:A Buzby Beach Story to my editor and now will anxiously await her comments and corrections. Because she is also a teacher, I am not sure how long it will be until I get the marked up manuscript back. The covers for the Kindle version and the Paperback version are done. Now it's just a matter of waiting. While I wait, I have a new book idea I'm already mulling over. I've taken a few notes on it and am ready to start writing bios on my main characters. Do you have any projects nearing completion?

@DWDavis Really? The cover makes me think of the "calm before the storm" or atleast, the relative calm.

@ScribbledAdNauseum My vision of the cover is that in the moment after the storm has passed the girl - which one of the two main girls in the story she is I'll leave up to my readers to decide - is sitting among some old pilings washed up by the storm and contemplating how the storm destroyed more than just some buildings.

Thank you. My editor's comment was that she thinks it is one of my best covers yet as the picture and title match well.

Congrats to you for finishing your manuscript. I wish I had the patience to sit down and write a book.

It takes patience and persistence. I knew when I was 12-years-old that I wanted to write a book. My first was published when I was almost 50.

@Starmaiden I, too, have boxes full of things I wrote over the years, and now I have thumb drives full of document files. You may be surprised which of those things you've saved becomes the acorn that grows into a book instead of an oak.

@DWDavis Many of my journals got lost as life went on, but all of those thoughts are still with me in my own internal storage. I've written a number of articles that I had published. I need to gather my focus and put it into blogging, but I want my own domain/website rather than doing it through blogger or wordpress.

It is YA. The characters are just finishing their junior year of high school as the book begins and most of the book takes place over the summer.

I am really hoping that Grammarly helped me get all the commas in the right places. That is always my biggest problem.

Well done for having finished the manuscript although I realise you'll probably need to do a bit more work on it.

There will no doubt be some changes to be made when I get it back from my editor. I am hoping it won't be as many as usual.

I have to wonder how many copies of these types of books get sold. How much $$ do the authors earn? I've seen others here on myLot post about writing stuff. From what I've seen, it seems more labor than profit.

I write because I love the process. I sell enough books to cover the cost of my writing habit. In total, I've sold just over 3,000 books counting all six together, mostly ebooks. My books are also in some public libraries and school libraries, so I have no idea how many times they've been read in total.

My goal is to have the book ready for the Christmas shopping season, so I have a little over a month before that really kicks into high gear.

Congratulations!! I'm still a long way away from getting my book to the editor, I'm afraid. I'm going to try to rectify that over the winter.

This current book has been just over a year in the making. I began it in the summer of 2017. It's my characters fault that it took so long. They kept doing things I didn't expect.

Of the novels you've already published Which one should I consider purchasing for my wife for her first read? If she likes the first one maybe she will request I buy the rest. I want to get her feedback on your work. I have told her about your books and she would likely enjoy them. She loves a good romance. I am more SciFi.

I would love to have the courage to publish something. Alas, I have three writing projects on the go, but no inclination to get on with them because I wouldn't have a clue what to do with them when they are completed!

With the self-publishing options today, you can chose anything from doing it all yourself to paying someone to do everything for you.

I think it will be. It's come some tender moments, funny moments, moments of great tension, and head turning twists.
