"Chimichangas" What's that?

I came across this discussion by @DWDavis that talked of Chimichangas a dish prepared by his wife. The dish is not as complicated as the name suggests. Talking of weird names for dishes I have come across many of them having no relevance to the dish itself. There is a dish called "Devils on Horse Back" This slide show has a few of these weird sounding dishes. Curious to know what went through the minds of those who christened them thus.

My mother used to make Pigs in a Blanket - hot dogs wrapped in a slice of Kraft American Cheese and rolled up in a Pillsbury Crescent Roll and baked. I thought they were fine eating.

We have the dish called "sapsapuriket" wherein the chicken is chopped very small and cooked with its blood and then adding the chili.

I've had Devils on Horseback at various evening functions. Toad in the Hole is another weird name which my husband insists on calling Turd in the Hole.

OOoh I love chimichangas! Haven't had them in over 2 decades, I think. Here in the Philippines, we've got some "weird" or "funny" sounding names for food too. For example, we have the KWEK KWEK -- it's boiled quail egg rolled in orange batter and then fried. We usually dip it in spiced vinegar.

@allknowing I remember one called "dubki" meaning taking a dip. Small (very tiny) flattened balls of wheat flour and lots of ghee kneaded together is dipped in sweet condensed milk and brought to boil. You can add cardamom and clove powder to your dough to give the flavor. The salty version of it has thick tadka dal instead of milk.

I first heard of Bubble and Squeak years ago on the Andy Griffith Show when an Englishman came to Mayberry and wound up staying with Andy and Opie while Aunt Bea was away. Bangers and Mash was also familiar though I can't remember why. I've not heard of Toad in a Hole but may try it as it sounds like a nice accompaniment for breakfast.

We also have food with funny names in Italy, one that comes to my mind is "strangolapreti" (priests stranglers), it's a sort of gnocchi. The legend tells that back in past a group of glutton priests entered a Inn and ate one dish of "strangolapreti", they liked and ordered another and then another again, until they had so many that they got "strangled" due to their gluttony.

They would perhaps order once and the second order would perhaps depend on the taste and not on the name
