Remember that notebook / journal that I was talking about earlier? About how I wanted to write my favorite book quotes in it? If it were you... Would you write JUST the quote, page number and book title OR Would you also add the character who said it? I haven't written the quotes (two) I have so far as I wanted to wait to see what you guys thought...

I used to do that but I only wrote the quote I liked. I didn't write the name of the book or page.

I've written three quotes so far. The name of the book, the character who said it, and the page number is what I've written underneath it. I want to be able to refer back, if necessary. I figure I might use this collaboration as a way to pick a book to read in the future.

@RubyHawk I coped one last night that I really liked. "History is only what we keep hold of to explain the present in a way we like."

@ScribbledAdNauseum That’s a good idea. When I copied quotes it was because they were witty. Or something I’d never heard.

I love the photo, I like things that remind me of a simpler and gentler time. I think I would write the quotes and who said it. Again love the photo.

@ScribbledAdNauseum I have heard of them, you have good taste.

@popciclecold There was a lot to choose from, but then not a lot at the same time. This was the most detailed, though there was a stained glass one that I had considered.

Got it for $8.00. I am sure I would have paid around $12.00 for the same book at a place like Barnes and Noble

Of course it would be nice if the person's who said it will be there also.

If it is me, I will write the character's name and title of book as well. So if you need to quote it, it will come in handy

That is what I have done. I have the quote, character name and then title of book and the page it was on. That way I can reference it in the book if I wanted to.

@rakski Plus, I think when I look back on this journal, It might help me decide what I want to read next.

I would write the name of the character, from which book and even which chapter. To mind even comes something like saying Mike said in chapter 10 on page 11 that he then the quote because he was in such and such a mood or situation and so on. Therefore you don't just give the quote but also why the character said such a thing.

I had considered doing what you suggested, but then I thought that mind end up being a quote per page because of my describing it. I've gone with writing the quote, then the character's name, the title of the book and the page number.

@RasmaSandra I appreciate it, and I might take into consideration in the future (once this book is full), but I've already written quotes out and I won't change my method willy-nilly like that. It'd bother me.

I was thinking it would make more sense to do that. Would help jog my memory when I look over them again. Off topic, I didn't see any lights amongst the halloween and christmas decor. Guy at the register told me it would be around the craft stuff, but I didn't go back to check. Would it be around the craft stuff? I may go to the other dollar tree next time I go.

@ScribbledAdNauseum That's a hard question for me to answer. They should be on a end cap in the red zone. The red zone is the seasonal zone. We have Halloween household and party one one side if the aisle of the red zone on the other side if that is Halloween candy, then across from that is costume and on the other side of that is Christmas craft. They could be there. Or they could be on the grid with the Christmas stuff. Or they could be on one of the four end caps in the area. One of our red zone end caps is all lights, so that's where ours our.

@thislittlepennyearns The way you described the set up? That's about what it's like in the stores I go to. I did look at the end caps that face the front of the stores (so the end of HBA, the end of Candy etc) but I didn't see it there. Maybe they just didn't have it and the kid misunderstood my question.

I would write the quote followed by the characters name that said it as well as the page number, book title and author's name.

I have done all of that with the exception of the author's name. So far I've only collected quotes from physical copies of books I have.

I like the back of the book. It certainly is unique.

That would be the front... However, the back is much the same, it just shows another part of the street.

I'd add everything, including the reason I thought it important to quote.

I had thought to add the reason it was important and / or more information about the circumstances of why it was said, but that would take up an entire page, and I did not want to do that. I have the quote, the character who said it, the book it came from, and the page it was on all recorded.

@ScribbledAdNauseum I don't remember reading your post on a journal, but, it is good to write down the quote and where you got it from and who said it is important.

I always write the quote along the name of the author.

I would need more than that for myself. I intend to use the book as a way to go back and decide what to read next, or just to enjoy the quotes I thought were the most striking.
