Ubud is my favourite place in Indonesia because of good and cheap food, and the sacred monkey forest. For only 10$ you can go and see free roaming cheeky monkeys.
Some rules: Don’t stare eye to eye with a monkey. It’s a form of challenge; Do not bother baby monkeys they are harmless but mommies are not; lastly hold on to your belongings as these monkeys are known for snatching things.
Inside the forest there are vendors that sell bananas to feed the monkeys with. So you can take cute monkey photos. Sometimes you get lucky and the monkeys will approach you without food.
Photo is mine.

@Mavic123456 I think they have their own monkey language. I just wonder if it’s universal among every monkey around the globe.

I have a lot of monkeys visiting my apartment on a daily basis. And we have to follow the same rules as you mentioned

@arunima25 Oh these are naughty monkeys. Well they are by nature. So there’s no way to protect your veggies?

Just south of where I live--about a 30-minute drive--is a huge population of rhesus monkeys living in the forest. Many years back in the 1960s a Tarzan movie was filmed nearby, and the monkeys they used for the movie escaped into the forest. Although authorities have tried capturing the monkeys many times over the years, their population continues to grow, and now they are well established in the area. They have no natural predators here, so their population continues to expand.
There are also squirrel monkeys in south Florida in the area west of Miami, that were accidentally released into the wild when Hurricane Andrew struck Miami in the early 90s and destroyed the zoo.

@moffittjc I just washed my hands with running water. It wasn’t a deep wound. Speaking of rabies shots, my mum is a veterinarian so I am fully vaccinated against it. I also used to work as a research assistant for rabies research.

@flapiz No, I rarely see the monkeys. I would have to drive down to the forest where they live. But maybe someday in the future I'll see them in my area, as they are starting to spread as their population grows.
I can't believe you got bit by a monkey!!! Did you have to get a rabies shot as a precaution?
I got bit by a dog when I was little, it just about tore my foot off!

I have been bitten by a monkey when I was younger. I tried to feed it flowers, it but my hand instead. I’m surprised I don’t have a phobia.

Dealing with monkeys sounds similar to dealing with some people.
