I'm now home alone - an update on my life

I thought you might like an update of where I’ve been the last few days. Mostly I’ve been getting my ‘goat fix’ at the Perth Royal Show in Western Australia. My nephew took 30 goats to the show so that was a lot to look after. My sister is in partnership with the goat studs that they run. She stayed home to look after the goats that didn’t go to the show.
We had 30 to look after in general terms including 18 babies to bottle feed twice a day and five does to milk twice a day. The goats arrived at the show last Wednesday and the adults were judged yesterday (Friday). The kids would have been judged this morning but I don’t know how the results of those classes yet.
I dropped Vince at the airport at 7am and hopefully he is on his way to Nepal via Bangkok now. I don’t like airport coffee so I just dropped him off and I was home before he took off as the plane was delayed a little.
I’ll write more about the show later and share more photos with you. The photo is of me having a bit of a break and working on one of my string mats. I am planning a hair-cut next week as some of the goats found my pony-tails irresistible and insisted on trying to chew them.

The babies are taken from their mothers and fed with bottles. It makes them a lot quieter/tamer. And if you want to exhibit the goat and enter her in production tests she needs to be milked out thoroughly so that she produces as much milk as possible.

He had a wonderful day. I'm not biased (well maybe only a little bit) but he has the best goats in the west and some of the best in Australia. One year goats of his breeding won Supreme at all bar two of the Royals in the country. A few years ago one of his goats also held the world record for milk production. I don't think there were any that didn't win but in fairness some of the classes were very small.

Goats must have thought of your pony-tails as some nature made delicacy
Have a great weekend ahead!

Sounds like a fun time. Your pony tails look fine in that picture. But they do like to chew on them.

@JudyEv I thought of having a goat in my backyard once but after doing some research about it, I thought an electric lawn mower would be a better and safer thing to have. That is why I understood it very well what you meant there, re: goats eating your pony tails.

@JudyEv If your name was Ivy, there is a song that would be quite on point.
MAIRZY DOATS by The Pied Pipers. A nonsense song that was just fun to sing. I listened to this when I was a kid and never really knew the words, sort of made...

Thanks. There aren't too many things that we do apart. I could have gone last time but it was going to be just two men and me and I thought I might be in the way a bit. Then the other guy had to pull out and Vince ended up going on his own. After Vince told me about the rough and long bus trips I decided my back may not stand up to the jolting so I didn't go this time either. I am pleased that this time he is in a group.

@JudyEv I love to read about couples who have common interests.
We are like that though we give each other own space too.
That reminds me of a big boss who told his secretary that he was celebrating his twenty-fifth marriage anniversary in style, no holds barred. He wanted her to book flights. He was going to Brazil and while she was off to Hawaii! siva

You're one busy lady but I think you love all that you do. Be careful not to bend over as I heard some goats get a little 'pushy' ha! Enjoy your time.

@MarymargII I had a goat as a kid (I mean as a child ) and have always loved them. I wouldn't be comfortable around camels for instance as I'm not used to them and don't know what to look out for.

@JudyEv I love animals but would be afraid to get that close as I am definitely not used to goats.
