When Do You Plan To Start Your Holiday Shopping?

Canada

For those of us who celebrate gift-giving holidays in the wintertime, such as Christmas or Hannukah, when do you start your shopping? I have Amazon Prime, but in order to stretch the cost of it out over a few months, I'm starting in October, with a few gifts each month, and putting them away in my house till the time comes. It's easier and actually more cost effective for me to do it this way, as opposed to waiting till the last minute.

I've already bought my sons Christmas gifts and am waiting for them to be delivered. As for my wife, I won't start shopping for her until she gives me her list of mandatory suggestions.

It sounds like you have everything under control. My husband and I are less into giving gifts to each other, than having an experience every year, or buying something together that we really want or need. We already have enough "stuff" around here. This year, we both agree that we want an AeroGrow garden for the living room so we can grow vegetables, and we want some new cookware.

@danishcanadian I think my wife and I will be in very much the same situation as you and your husband this year. My Father's Day, Birthday, Anniversary, Labor Day, etc present from my wife is my new pickup truck. My present to her will be our new camper later this year or early next. Between those two things it will be a long time before either of us will be expecting anything much in the way of presents.

I plan to do the same. I do not want to be in the Christmas rush as we have a lot of traffic here.

I don't drive, and I have a heck of a time walking in the snow, so I have to take an Uber, if I can't get to the bus. I love on line shopping.

@danishcanadian I love shopping at the mall but I do nit like the long lines at the cashier, long line at taxi bay and grab pick up point.

I don't really plan. Money just spends itself on things! I won't deliberately do much until November or December but there are occasions when I'll see something or I'll think of something that needs to be ordered in advance. I've bought youngest son's Christmas present just because I found a good deal on what he wanted. And I got eldest daughter's present because the idea came to me and I didn't want to forget. I'll now probably get something for the other son and daughter by the end of this month, and buy for anyone else (nieces, nephews, siblings, parents) next month.

We will probably buy it in December when the sales start.

I wonder if they have similar sales on Amazon. With my vision I find it hard to see in stores, so I like to do all of my shopping on line sitting down. I also have several wish lists of things that I've selected for people throughout the year, and those gifts might not necessarily be on sale.

I am also going to shop on Amazon but I will do it the end of October beginning of November because I will have some gifts sent right to my friends so they have them for Christmas.
