When Did People Stop Believing in "Innocent until Proven Guilty"?

People assume Brett Kavanaugh is guilty of the terrible-terrible things people say he's done ... for no other reason than 'that they say he did them!' And then they laughingly say, "Well; if someone reacts the way he did, they must be guilty!" They make their final judgement on him with the same evidence people use to conclude that Jesus of Joseph died on a cross and rose again after a few days: that lots and lots of others SAY it happened. Now people are upset that the FBI-Report on their investigation of Kavanaugh's past was (according to a senator who 'read' it) https://twitter.com/mythmanjay/status/1048284328726319104 "a sham. Its purpose was not to get to the bottom of the allegations against Judge Kavanaugh. Its purpose was not to find the truth. Its purpose was to give cover." I would say (with the faith I have in the FBI) that she read it wrong; she read it LOOKING FOR 'a bunch of guilt-mongers trying to pin the guilt on Kavanaugh,' and instead she saw 'exactly the report the bureau makes when there's no "evidence."'

When did they stop believing in “innocent until proven guilty”? When there was a “republican” designation after the accused’s name.

@Janet357 — she was a beagle mix, hardly purebred, just a little ol’ Heinz 57 mixed breed who was the sweetest thing on earth.

@FourWalls they are always the sweet babes we can have. I have had fur babies of different breeds but the sweetest one is a japanese spitz. It never growls at us.

They did a sham investigation but they obviously found something or else the report wouldn't be kept secret. It would be published everywhere. And if you don't care about the rape, fine. What about the perjury?

@xander6464 Remind me what the "perjury" was ... Was it "doctor" Ford testifying that trauma does exactly the opposite of what it actually does to the memory?

@mythociate I can say I never raped anyone, does that count for anything? With 40% of Americans, it doesn't. I can certainly remember that I didn't commit perjury last week. But that doesn't seem to matter, either.

To make our own idea about the content of this report and tell if she read it wrong or not, we would have to read it, and it is not possible ; believing 1 senator or another about it, is just a matter of personal conviction similar to what you denounce at the beginning of this discussion.

The presumption of innocence should be valid until proven guilty all the time in my opinion. If people don't respect the "innocent until proven guilty" principle then they are doing some abuse. I don't have information about the case you mentioned though so I will not go on to judge in any way that case.

The FBI was not allowed to investigate certain people and many people (up to 40) who came forward have said that they contacted the FBI and were not gotten back to. That is NOT a "thorough and complete" investigation. That is definitely a sham.

A lot of cases like this happen around the world. They are the real culprits but the victims need to prove before the court that they have committed such. But some are so good in outsmarting the law and so on, so how can one achieve justice on this, if this will be the case?

Something I'm sure none of the accusers did, something that proves this isn't a "Christian nation."
