Living in Hope and Adjusting to Reality

Hope and Reality

I have worked at places where hundreds earned their livelihood. I have also been a keen observer of the yearnings of ordinary people and I too am one among them. I was fortunate to work in a few countries that drove home the truth we are one and the same with similar hopes and dreams. The least a leader can do is to give hope and be fair in dealings. That drives up the team spirit for all to survive and even prosper. During elections, the common folks hope against hope that the leaders will prove better than those they replace; that is what they promise anyway. Many flatter only to deceive, though there have been the few who were written off but proved that they had a heart of gold, united the people, and lead them by setting an example through personal example and sacrifice. There have been many but only a few had the pulse of the people. I recall the words of British Prime Minister, Clement Attlee: “I get rather tired when I hear that you must only appeal to the incentives of profit. What got us through the war were unselfishness and an appeal to the higher instincts of mankind.” That is what really matters, not the mad competitiveness at the cost of humanity, compassion, and love for mankind and our fellow travelers. Don’t you think such a leader is long overdue? Image: Hope and Reality from Wikimedia Commons

Yes, such a leader is long overdue. They certainly don't make leaders like they used.to do. It's a sad state of the world for all of us.

@Shiva49 in a way our society as a whole is developing characteristics of high greed, lack of compassion, too much selfishness and disregard of mannerisms and in a way finding leaders who would bring back such qualities among public becomes even tougher.

A good politician can be called a 'stateman' and that is what we need - someone with ideals, vision and principles superior to others that can stand for his beliefs and truly has the interests of his country at heart.

Yes, we need good leaders in every country and those who inspire across the world, set an example, with their wisdom, sagacity, and inclusivity. Sadly, most get lost in petty politics with divisive intent - siva

@Shiva49 That is true. Mostly they have to follow party lines.

There can be a great energy within love, without any need for competitiveness.
Yes, a leader that lives from a great love for his fellow man, is sorely needed. I wonder though, if there is any competitiveness within love? No, I answered myself. Love competes with no-one, and yet it wins overall. Love is the end result of all paths, but there is no competition on any path, both individually, or amongst the paths, themselves. Love is love, and it is humbly present, not competitively laced, or placed. Photo Credit: The photo used here was freely sourced from the free media site: pixabay.com. There can be a great energy within love, without any need for competitiveness. Embrace the fire of love, to be fully alive, uncompetitively.

@Shiva49 Life is a struggle, as we walk through the darkness, groping our way through. I really do hope there is purpose to this madness, and that God, is not as mad as we might think that he is. God's thoughts are not our thoughts, and I, like Einstein, would certainly like to know how God thinks, and to understand the mind of God. “I want to know God's thoughts - the rest are mere details.” Albert Einstein

Yes, Steve, I believe everything is inbuilt in nature. It is sort of "it happens when it happens" and then no one can stop the tide from turning for the better. Time may not be ripe enough The darkest hour is not yet though we want the light to shine through even as we grope and plead. We are being put through the wringer, maybe, to emerge stronger and wiser in the end. We could have pleaded for this experience despite being forewarned it is no walk in the park! Time may not be far off for a knight in shining armor to appear from nowhere! siva

@innertalks Yes, God does not reveal His cards right away. We have to go around in circles for generations to make a dent in his plans We are also thrown off the track and made to fight each other in the name of beliefs even! He seems to protect his turf assiduously. God is not mad, certainly not sadistic, hopefully! siva

In a way that is happening when people realize they have no leader they can trust in solving their basic issues. They band together to solve them to the extent they can - siva

There is hope with the younger generation not easily falling for the bite of divide and rule. I do hope they become more hands-on than depend on those who thrive in dividing people into various permutations and combinations - siva

The common folks are stoic and find hope by squeezing blood even out of stone! They soldier on despite the minefield along their way due to contrived divisions brought about by divisive politicians - siva

Hopefully, a leader will arise from among us who knows our inner craving - love, and compassion, not war and hate. The inner yearning of the common folks is the same everywhere - siva

There is much compassion in the majority of ordinary folks but our present-day leaders are more into divide and rule. It is only a matter of time the tide turns and the majority will assert - siva

@FayeHazel Yes, sadly, most leaders are into blame games, finding fault with all and sundry, except taking a hard look at themselves and what they are tasked to do - siva

@Shiva49 I think there is a certain type of person that is drawn to that leadership role. A type that like you say are more into the divide and rule way of thinking
