Heads or tails ?

I am taking a train this evening to Paris. The city is organizing its 15th «White Night in Paris», and a lot of events (concerts, exhibitions...) are scheduled. Great ! What is less great is that it is supposed to rain, the problem being how many rain will fall ? According to the WRF meteorological model, which is an American model, it will start to rain at 10 pm when I will arrive in Paris and end at 5 am. According to Arome, which is a French model, I will only see a little rain circa 2 am. I can bring only a small bag or I would not be able to enter in many places, should I put a K-Way in it or not ? I do not trust a lot America today when it comes to climatic changes but I am a prudent boy. Anyways if it rains all the night I will probably not go to outdoors events, I do not want to come back with a cold. But ending in a museum is not that fun for a White Night, I had scheduled something else than a visit to Napoleon’s tomb in the Invalides ! I should perhaps start by the religious procession on Saint-Louis island to pray for the island to not be flooded. The inhabitants are a show by themselves, and prayers against flooding might help for the rest of the night. Besides I have not yet tested the red flowered urinals that the city installed on the island, and that the local population has not yet managed to get removed. It may be an unique opportunity. I have a few hours left to prepare an alternative schedule. Whatever you scheduled on your side, I wish you a good weekend.

It rains here, I had checked the Swiss forecast and they said rain from 2 p.m., the Italian said from noon, the Swiss was more accurate. I was able to come back from the dentist appointment before the rain started. Good luck for your White Night in Paris.

Switzerland is always more accurate, I do not remember a Swiss being late. The sky is cloudy for me, but no rain yet. I hope that it will not rain tonight in Paris, it would spoil the fun, I bought my tickets 1 month ago.

@LadyDuck I am in the train, I will tell you that in 2 hours... No rain for the moment, maybe the American model is wrong.

@topffer One of our friend (he is Swiss) is always late, but here in the south they say, "we were born south of the Gotthard"... it's to say they are not as strict as the German Swiss. I hope you are not going to have rain in Paris, it would be a shame.

It says its going to rain tops but I don´t suppose it will be much. Just don´t get wet and have a great time and I hope that they don´t get flooded either. Tell us where you ended up tomorrow or what? Goodnight mate see you later.

@topffer Seems like you had quite an adventure though tops. Are you okay now then? I have just come in from quite a long walk and discovered another way how to get across teh very busy road under another subway and retrace my steps back to another subway that takes me almost back home without having to risk crossing these crazy roads. Its quite beautiful to be out in The Biurdana and I was curious to find what a building was across that side of the road also. I will see if I can get closer to it this week or tomorrow weather permitting. You get some rest now after all that walking. You managed to see quite a few things though.

@lovinangelsinstead21 The legs are still a bit tired, but they are recovering fast. I visited museums that were in the same neighborhood, the 7th arrondissement : the Delacroix museum, the Rodin museum and the Orsay museum. I walked probably more inside them than between them. You are exploring your city ? Not a bad idea, we visit a lot of places far away, and often don't know what is near our door. I discovered a very nice wild public park near a little river like this. I wish you a good promenade and some fine discoveries.

I brought a K-Way but it rained only half an hour and I did not used it. I started by a wild fashion casting, went to a classical music concert, and I visited the Vincennes zoo that had a nice sound and light show. It was the first time that I was visiting a zoo by night. The end of the night was less fun. I went to Saint-Germain des Prés and the Quartier Latin, and there were way too much drunk people, some fighting between them. Although I jumped from place to place with the subway, my legs were heavy on the morning. I had scheduled to visit a few museums on Sunday, I did it, but you walk also a lot inside museums and yesterday evening I was very tired.

Where can I find this Canadian model? It rained only half an hour during the night, the rain did not sabotaged my White Night.

I hope the rain stays away. It sounds like a fun weekend if you don't get wet.

It rained only half an hour during the night, more on Sunday, but I had scheduled to visit a few museums, it was alright. The night has not been as fun as I would have liked it, it was spoiled by a lot of drunk people in the streets and fights here and there between drunkards ; the emergencies had a bad night.

@topffer That's a shame. It would be hard to keep your cool when you're trying to help people and they are all drunk.

@JudyEv Maybe I had chosen a bad neighborhood to end the night (I was in Saint-Germain des Prés), but I believe it was the same everywhere. This said, I had fun, and I visited a zoo by night for the first time (the zoo of Vincennes had a cool light and sound show).

How did things turn out by the way? What happened? The French or the American was right? I am anxious right now seeing the dark sky! It shouldn't rain (according to the forecast until another 12 hours, but the sky looks very threatening... I need to go out in 30mins!).

The French model of forecast was right, it rained only half an hour during the night. I will know that next time. I hope that it will not rain in your place, but, as I tend to believe more the signs sent by the sky than those sent by the weather forecasts, I am not very optimistic for you.

@YrNemo The sun is back for me, but not for long, we are entering into the rain season, and it is supposed to rain tomorrow. It gives me a chance to pick a few mushrooms.

@topffer it has been drizzling & light shower since the time I wrote that reply. I used the chance to wash the car so all is good. It is still drizzling right now .

So how did it go ? Do not trust our meteorological model - I sure don't . It was supposed to rain here last week. Such a hoopla about it - and we only got a couple spits from the sky - not kidding - what a disappointment. There was more rain at those red flowered urinals if you had a chance to try it out .

@topffer Well then that was pretty accurate! We had some unexpected rain the other night - it actually rained for sometime - it felt great - but strange! Ohhh, I love light shows! And how cool to see a Picasso exhibition . . . we see his works here and there, but to see a collection of it would be wonderful!

@much2say It is a very complete exhibition of his first years in Paris : 150 paintings and 350 drawings + a few sculptures. Hard to believe that he could have produced such a number of pieces of art !

The French model was the good one, it rained only half an hour circa 2am. I have not seen a red urinal, or the city removed them from the islands, or they have been moved to dark streets. The most interesting I did during the night was a visit to a zoo that had a cool light and sound show, and on Sunday the "Picasso Blue and Pink" exhibition in the Orsay museum which was the best exhibition I saw in Paris this year, showing quite all the production of Picasso from 1900 to 1906 : drawings, paintings, engravings, sculptures... coming from museums and private collections all around the world, including a couple from the L.A. County Museum of Art.

It is hard to determine the best way to know what the forecast is, so I prepare just in case. I hope you had a dry weekend. I noticed this post is the weekend before last, I think that was our last hot and dry weekend and I went swimming.

Not really dry, but the night was ok, it rained only half an hour. It rained more on Sunday, but as I visited museums it was not a problem.

I do hope it does not rain on your visit to Paris, though to here the romantics tell it Paris is most beautiful in the rain.

I do not think it applies to outdoor concerts. It would be bad luck, the last rain in my area was 3 weeks ago. I am checking the indoors events, but most of them are ending at 1 or 2 am.

@topffer True, rain is not beneficial for concerts and other outdoors events.
