You post a discussions and someone will comment on your post even when your not sround. When you get back it will show on your notifications and you reply and like it. Thst is the activity we made here. And then we earn from it.
Of course, you know who also support you.
In my own opinion it is better than just making comments on other's discussion. You may earn as well in commenting but your activity is higher when you have your own discussions. Lets say you have 5 comments, that is already 5 responses you'll be making.
This is the reason as much as possible I post one or two discussions a day. Then I also make responses as many as I can. Of course, in my case, upon the availability of my time.

Well true, seems that you have a better chance of earning faster when you are posting a discussion of your own. In my case I prefer to comment more than post my original discussion. I am not really running after the payout but just enjoy other’s discussion here.

A person should definitely post his/her own discussions in addition to responding on other people's discussions. And it's more likely that people will respond to your discussion than to your response or comment on someone else's discussion.
