*No DIAL TONE

Our landline phone has no dial tone for a few days now. We have the internet connection but we cannot call anybody because the phone has no humming dial tone sound. My sister asked our neighbor if their phone has a dial tone, she nodded her head.
My sister then went at the back and requested our neighbor if she can call our phone. It was ringing, but there was no ringing at home. She then called the telecommunications company and complained about it.
I did not touch, remove, replace, or detach any wires. I think the phone is the one having the problem because we can still use WiFi. My sister asked me and my son if we moved the wires and connections of the phone outside the house; we said ‘no’. But I told her the phone is generic (it is China-made) so it is expected that it does not function longer than 5 years.
I hope the problem will be solved tomorrow.

I guess it got shorted somewhere inside the phone itself. If that is the case then it need to be replaced. Sometimes electronic devices that may have been exposed to very humid weather may absorb it inside the machine and got into it that shorted it circuitry.

@ridingbet Better have it checked with the proper technician to take the necessary action for your problem. They are the ones who can answer and do the corrective action.

@rsa101 still no dial tone even our hospital here has none. but it is still good because we have internet connection.

indeed, but my sister went to the office and there she saw many subscribers complaining the same thing: their phones have no dial tone too.

there were many complainants in the office. my sister just arrived home few minutes ago. the complainants have the same issue--- no dial tone.

when the dial tone was absent before, it was due to the typhoon. so there was no electricity. this is the first time that the phone has no dial tone but there is internet.
my sister went to the office of the telecommunications company and she expected to be given priority number since she is a senior citizen, only to be given number 37 for SC. there were many subscribers in that office and... you guess it right, their phones do not have dial tone too.

they told my sister to wait for a repairman to address the issue since we are not the only ones with that problem. there were many complainants too.

the employee told my sister that they will come to the house to change the unit, once all complaints are already acknowledged.
