Today marks the end of a rather tumultuous first quarter of the school year. What a chaotic start it has been with two hurricanes and several days out of school as a result.
We were very lucky and only missed 4 1/2 days of school. There are schools in our diocese farther east that are still not back in session due to the amount of damage from Florence.
Report cards will be going out next week and parent conferences will be next Wednesday. Here's hoping most parents will be pleased with what they see.
How is your Wednesday shaping up?

We as teachers are a little extra worked during this time before Parents conference and handing over reports. Hope everything goes well and parents are satisfied. All the best.

@DWDavis Same here. Dealing with children seems so natural but dealing with adults, you have to be prepared enough.

I hope the parents will be satisfied with the results. We've never had a hurricane here. But we're going to have heavy snow in the winter, and sometimes we have to have a few days off.

No hurricane days off fir our youngsters....but in another couple of months the snow and ice days will begin to accumulate. Last winter (not a bad winter by any stretch) the neighbourhood kids missed at least 2 days a week of two months.....icy roads were the biggest culprit.
As a parent I was usually happy with the report cards.

Of all the weather phenomenon besides tornadoes, ice scares me the most.
When my boys were in school poor grades on a report card were blamed on the student not working hard enough. At some point, parents turned it around and now blame the teacher.

@DWDavis my son in law was teaching a paramedic course at a community college. He was called before the dean when he failed a student. The parents were outraged and demanded that he be given a passing grade. The student in question had not handed in even one assignment.....hmmmm.

It was OK, got a mystery shop done up North, had lunch at Wendy's and dropped my car off for a brake problem.

The second quarter is usually the chaotic quarter with Halloween, our Veterans Day, American Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years all coming during the quarter. I pray we don't have any more tropical storms and no snow storms, please.

Gee that first quarter went by fast. You sound like you've settled into the new school quite well.
It's a sunny but fairly cold start to this Wednesday here
