Not Fancy But Works

At times I do mention buying new gadgets but I always wait and after a while I see I don`t really need them and I put that money in the savings, to buy another house. So, what do I use? The fitbit. I am sorry but I think this is the biggest waste of money yet. I know many will disagree but that is how I feel. Today I counted my steps and each lap is 272 steps, I multiply that times 15 laps, what I walked this evening for exercise, and I got 4,080 steps just in laps walked. Next I did lunges although I did not count those as I picked greens for 15 minutes, add bend overs to that 15 minutes because I move and bend over, move and bend over, lunge an reach across. As far as calories, just stop stuffing your pie hole and you`ll lose weight, I have been dropping a pound a week, some people will lose more because they eat a lot more than I do. For the muscle work out, one way I do this is by lifting, I have no problem picking up a 5 gallon bucket of paint and putting into a cart at walmart. I tote buckets of water to the dogs, I lift 2 x 6`s and more. That means I don`t have to have fancy equipment to get up and move my butt, its common sense and self control. This is just my opinion, I am entitled to it.

if all you do is physical labor, you just need to eat proper foods.

@andriaperry - if you have to keep count of what you eat, steps taken and negative wieght gain- then youre more than likely doing it wrong. then again, im not much of a math person.

@Plethos This is my math, don`t pack the pie hole and get off your azz, that is what counts

I love my FitBit just for the fun of it. I've been self motivated for years with walking, eating right, and exercising. It just adds an oomph to my day.

But I like eating WAHHHHH!!!!! That is where I keep most of my weight. Our daughter has one of those and will pace around the house to get her steps in. But that is not truly giving her a workout. So it can be a false sense of accomplishment also.

That is right, you have to move it, get the heart rate up, sweat and feel those legs burn!

@andriaperry Your answer brings me back to when I make pie pastry. I use two bread knives and a fork to make it, no electrical machines except for the oven.

Yes, I agree.. Exercising without having balanced diet won't show any of expected results..!! So, proper diet is the prima facie and after then comes exercise.. If you are physically active, you even don't need exercising..

With as much work as you do, I don't see why you need to walk. it is for those of us who are more sedentary.

I have been walking just about everyday since 2007, my doctor told me to increase walking he wants me as fit as I can get so I do not have to be on medication for diabetes.

Yep, it is not too hard to keep track of yourself and how much you walk and what you eat. So you are right you don't need a gadget to tell you the same thing.

As Eva said too, people will walk around the inside of the house for a minute to get steps in and not really exercising.

I love my FitBit. I don’t really care about daily steps but I like seeing my resting heart rate each day, my calories burned, and my hours slept. I used to use it for calorie counting too but haven’t in years. It doesn’t motivate me to work out. I do that already. It does track what I do though. I’m hoping to get the new 4th gen Apple Watch for Christmas so then I won’t need my FitBit any longer. I can give it away to someone else.

There are stories about fitbit addiction when you become over reliant on the device.
