He opened up the bullet-proof glass for me!

I just got a non-verbal compliment. I went to the local Mobil station to get some beer and Gatorade, and the guy behind the counter immediately opened up the bullet-proof glass window upon seeing me.
We chatted, as we always do, while I made my purchase, and I heard him slide the bullet-proof glass window shut as I left.
Do gas stations in your area have bullet-proof sliding windows? I don't live in a particularly dangerous neighborhood, but the freeway near my home is on a "corridor" between two fairly rough towns, and gas stations often get robbed on weekend nights.
Ain't that America.

I’d open my bulletproof glass for a Horse, too. Hard to shoot with hooves!
Some of the stations have bulletproof checkouts, others don’t. Like NJ, I rarely buy anything but gas at gas stations, so unless I have an overflowing bladder, I pay at the pump and go on my merry way.

I have not seen or heard about such stations. And having such an arrangement could be costlier.
Some wealthier owners of such stations do however have a good rapport with the local police and that can help them in thwarting the hooligans, though in case if a riot (though uncommon) anything can happen.

Ours don`t open, LOL.
For real, only a few have those windows, most are still open.

None of the stations I have seen in Oregon have those windows. We still have people who are hired to pump our gas too.

@TheHorse Yes, Oregon always votes to keep it that way.

Wow. Scary. Not that I know of, but there is a gas station where the attendents sit behind glass. Always a bit spooky going in there

@FayeHazel Got it. It's as if they're expecting some "bad guy" to come in.

@TheHorse must be that the glass window, little dip in the counter where they give you your change, bars in the windows... Isn't the norm around here... So feels spooky to me

My country India has no such safety rules. Life is at God's mercy here.

@TheHorse Yes it is an unfortunate thing but is the truth. The societal mindset and lack of education has to do a lot with it.

I haven't heard of any of ours having those. Haven't really heard of any robberies in my town either.
